That String Trick - Setting Fence Posts For The Chicken Run

It's my birthday! ... but that has nothing to do with starting the chicken run fence LOL. I thought some of you would like to see how I started the chicken run fence project. The holes were dug with a 9 inch auger on a skid steer tractor. Thank you to my neighbor for helping me out with that! The rest was all for me. The fence post holes were cleaned out with a post hole digger. Two end posts were lined up, then came THAT STRING TRICK! (sorry for the over dramatization there... just seemed right). Everyone has a story and every story Counts! Thank you for being a part of my story!

Nice job what I do and might help you next time is put a 2×4 on the first and last post were the string go, s to hold the string out a little so you can use a tape measure cause some times the post will push on your string and you don't notice till you go to put your boards on.

Since you at times were solo putting the gravel inside the hole, I will put some gravel around the outside of the hole so you can just kick it with your feet down to the hole while holding the post. I did this when I installed my fence, there were times when my wife couldn't help me. I had to improvised.

Great job. With the gravel the clay is very hard to the water will naturally draw into the gravel. Just what I heard
