If I went too slow, my dad would say “We ain’t building a piano”, then when I’d speed up he’d say, “why don’t you take a little pride in your work”. His objective to drive me crazy was well achieved.

This is one of the best ways to ensure work is kept to a high standard. I used this method 2 days ago to flatten and level a ceiling on a job, where we installed a new RSJ within the ceiling void. Plasterers will thank you if you do this as it makes thier life so much easier to achieve a flat and fine finish 👍 ah the humble string line, a builders best friend 😉

You can use the same method for setting out an extension off the house when the aligning wall is all over the place👍👍

The wall plate we get for new builds is sooo warped/curved o_O Glad to see people actually caring about this stuff!

Robin would have knocked it down and started again with his huge roofing square! Then again 3mm to robin is like 30 to most people 😂

I had a guy on my crew that was special forces as a younger man. My crew did mainly metal roofs and I was pretty critical about our cuts and how everything looked. Aesthetics were just as important to me as function. It drove him crazy. He cussed like a sailor and would always say "goddamn it Donnie, it's not like we're building fucking bombs." Hardest work guy I ever met. Worked twice as hard when you pissed him off. Which was pretty often.
