I regularly did this trick many years ago but I had forgotten the moves! Thanks for this.

As an added bonus, I glued the loop of string so there were no "ends" then added a short piece of string folded in half and pinched at the bottom with a bit of the loop. This gave it the appearence of simply a piece of string. I'd hold up the piece of string and say "I'm going to do a trick with this piece of string, but we won't use the ends, " pluck off the short piece and display the loop, "Because this is called The Endless String Trick!" This always got a laugh.

Cool. I an 63. My father taught me that one in about 1968 or 1967. I was a small child. I knew how to do it at the time.
I had forgotten about it for years and my father is deceased. Cool that I came across this by accident surfing YouTube. Now I know how again.

I had trouble understanding this, visualizing almost broke my brain, i could not figure out how it worked even as i watched it. basically you wanna make 2 loops, when tension is released the upper loop will travel to the bottom of the finger, essentially the ring will come out as the string travels to the bottom. The ring also has to be between the 2 loops, otherwise it won't work.

My grandfather showed me this trick as a kid a few times, but I don't remember the ring ever getting close to my thumbs.

Hi. I've been doing this trick for over 40 years and for the first time ever the ring got stuck on the string (like one end had been threaded through then tied)and we had to use scissors to cut it off. Any ideas how to do it again?
