The CR-V has some advantages over the Sportage. Mainly being fuel economy and likely more engine/transmission longevity. That’s if we are to believe they currently still live up to their former reputation. Time will tell.

In terms of interior, more people will be impressed and are impressed by the Sportage as opposed to the CR-V. That’s a no brainer. Also, if we were to factor in safety as a category, I do believe the Sportage has more standard safety features to aid in avoiding accidents.

Curb appeal and modern exterior design also go in favor of the Sportage. If you are just looking for transportation that blends in with everything else, get the CR-V. If you don’t mind taking a bit of a risk for something vastly more exciting, go for the Sportage.

Good comparison, thanks. We just shopped these 2 and ended up buying 2025 CRV Hybrid. We’re getting >40 mpg. Agree with your assessments, except for reliability. Many mechanics say Honda is better than Kia. And Kia has poor reputation for honoring their supposed 100K mile power train warranty.
