As someone with Celiac disease and severe food allergies I would be very happy and grateful someone cared enough to go out and find something safe rather than risking accidentally causing a reaction.

The story about the cook really made me furious on her behalf. She went out of her way to make sure the stepdaughter had a delicious and safe meal and she gets reamed out for it? The new wife sounds like she has a chip on her shoulder already.

I'm betting that, in the last story, they were expecting the whole meal to meet stepdaughter's needs, rather than OP cook her something separate.

Still unreasonable and, in the stepdaughter's position, I'd have felt more included by getting my very own special meal, because that means someone put a lot of thought into my needs.

The first OP handled the situation really well.
The FIL was just another sad, insecure little man.
Glad he extended a helping hand to his wife's sisters too, he is an actual nice guy

Talking about going above and beyond to make sure a child doesn't possibly die. If I was her parents I would have been incredibly touched.

the last story: god forbid OP tries to feed a severely allergic child without killing them

that last story is so infuriating op did their best, went above and beyond and the kid's parents still found an issue

I love AITA. The titles are often crazy, and you never know whether the story is more nuanced or even crazier.

Whoever that dad is in the first story needs to get out of the 13th century.

The dinner part one: I 100% thought it was going to be some kind of exclusion situation. Then I heard about how serious the kids allergies were and I felt so bad for the woman. She did her best and people took her efforts as something malicious.

I already commented on the story about the cooking situation for the allergic kid under another video that talked about it, but I'mma just copy it here:
I would absolutely feel the same as OP, I would not trust myself at all with a meal like that.
I also feel like, as sad as it is, this child is going to be used to not eating what other people eat - going to restaurants, parties, weddings, whatever else, not everybody will always be able to accommodate her. This will be her life, bringing her own meals when she's able to cook, or getting suitable take out.
I have a strict diet, and while I wouldn't have health issues as serious as in the story if I were to not follow it, I also have to provide my own food in situations like this.
Sheltering the kid now will just give her screwed up expectations of how the real world works when having an illness or disability.

"How dare my multilingual roommate watch TV and listen to music and talk to their friends in languages I can't understand!" 😂

To be honest, I would have told Greg to bring the food for Becca himself. I wouldn't risk to make sick an already unhealthy child by cross-contamination or any small spill of an allergen on her plate.

As the first OP said. It’d make sense if it was just a BF/GF dynamic. But they’re married ffs stuff changes when you’re married, the trust between the in laws and now husband/wife should be better. That’s just no trust in their son in law.

The last one. With the allergies.
People were complaining their free meal came from a restaurant instead of being home cooked?
It's not like op told them to pound sand or something.

Tbh, it sounds like the multilanguage girl just doesn't like her roommate as much. OP is trying so hard to get a hold on their hobbies, join their conversations with her friends etc. Sounds like 19y.o. OP is now learning that not all roommates are also instant besties

There is a simple way to deal with the parents in the first story. Get yourself a car with tinted windows, park it on the road outside the parents property, say you will both sleep in the car. Then make the car rock and accidentally honk the horn every once in a while, in full view of the neighbours.
You will be asked to come inside instantly.

Had a dream yesterday that Vincey ended videos with smashing electronics w/ a bat in lieu of wholesome memes. Not sure how I felt about that

For the second story: I'm wondering if the stepmother asked about the mother son dance ahead of time or just assumed she would get it

I hate the people who make the phrase “_ isn’t a personality” THEIR personality.

This might come as a shock to some people, but your interests, skills, hobbies, and experiences are all hugely important contributors to… you guessed it… YOUR PERSONALITY.

People will see someone enjoying literary ANYTHING and be like “oh that person is having fun what a loser lol no personality” bruh. Sorry that they’re having… experiences?? Sorry they’re living???

People really think the only valid personalities are the ones identical to theirs.

The ironic thing is, most of the people that say this are super boring themselves, at least from what I’ve seen. People like this don’t understand the value of skills, hobbies, and interests bc they have none of their own. They mistake passion for obsession because they haven’t found anything that THEY’RE passionate about. Almost sad tbh
