Watching this in 12 year old video and still super helpful. I am lucky to have an older one, and it's great quality! I'm so glad I stopped to watch this to see how the clip worked!

Well, after looking at this studsensor for 20 minutes and trying everything to figure out how to change the battery, I decided to try trusty old youtube. Voila, there was your video that showed me how to change the battery in seconds. Thanks much for this video.

Thank you for helping me figure this out. I had unscrewed the device and there were parts I didn't understand! Now seeing the battery slips in and out at the end, made all the difference! Thanks.

Thank you! I have an older model, and it was so hard that I was afraid it would break if I pushed it. Thank you for confirming what to do... finally got it open!

Thank you. I almost opened the screw. I did find the notch to prise open the battery compartment lid. Then I saw your video. Very helpful especially since I had the old model.

I’m glad I found this video (November 2023). The procedure for removing the clip on the Studsensor described here is really nothing like what’s depicted on the instruction sheet that came with it. And at that, it was still pretty hard to get off. I like the tool; I hate how hard it is to replace the battery.

Whoever designed this screw thing and the battery slot that is super-difficult to open should be fired and stripped of there engineering degree. Awful. Your company should hire a non-engineer to tinker with all your products and veto everything that is not intuitive. That fact that we need a video to change the batteries should mean a firing.

I will pack this thing up and take it back to Lowes. There should be instructions for battery installation and if the screw should not be removed there should be a do not remove indication.

Hi Eric, hope you're still with Zircon as I need help putting it back together after having removed the #$%# screw. A plastic piece fell out and now I can't get the thing closed.
Thank you in advance.

What I should do if the battery cover with the belt clip doesn’t go off. I wanted to remove batteries when I am not using the stud finder to prevent battery leak that can destroy it. Can I keep batteries in for long time?

Ultimately useful, but the black background completely made the black belt clip style battery cover invisible, so i thought that "away from you" (because i couldn't really see what you were doing until i zoomed in), meant away from the top, rather than away from the back. In future, i suggest that you use off-white backdrops and add some lighting so people can see what you are actually trying to demonstrate.

How about a video explaining how to reassemble this piece of junk after the screw is removed, since so many people mistakenly do that?

I have the Studfinder PRO-SL. I did what everybody else does: REMOVE THE SCREW. I then googled and came up with you. Your studfinder is pretty good, BUT what the hell is about the battery change scam? Theres no instructions, even a sketch of "how to" Anyway after watching this I went to change my battery. I've got strong hands and it would not open for me. I had to use force from my hands and a screw driver. The plastic is bending . Finally opened. This thing was still hot when molded together. The plastic around the whole cover was like a very fine saw blade. I thought I was going to break it before it opens. Look you have a good product but don't invent ways on "how to break it" so when can buy another one.

Wow. Couldn’t get the battery cover off so I unscrewed and a tiny piece fell out. Pieces should not be falling out when the back cover is removed!

I just bought one and didn’t know which side to insert batteries and I unscrewed it. It’s covid season and can’t return it

I have that exact same model... They prepped that one to open easily. Mine you have to bang against a wall to open it... It locks in 3 places, lifting that tab does nothing.
