I think I really appreciate this video because I always have that moment of hesitation like... "am I charging too much? What if I don't get the customer because my prices are too high?" Turns out, the amount I have invested in my own equipment/time/learning how to edit-- just didn't equate to simply $60 a shoot. So I completely agree with knowing your worth!

My very first shoot is coming up this Sunday I’m starting off at $69 (being she’s my first client and friend) but I’m changing to $149 soon after, idk what it is with ending my prices with 9 but for some reason ppl gravitate towards that more it’s like some kind of mind trick like pricing something $99 instead off $100 ... maybe it’s just me lol anywho new subbie🙂

Used to charge $100-$120 by the hour per session. Now I have gotten the perfect way to up the prices mostly because of how long post processing takes. Thanks man for the info.

I started less than a year ago and started doing free work. Now I charge 350$ for couples and 120/hr for individual portrait sessions. So far so good. I'm working towards going into wedding. I'm excited 🔥

A lot of photographers are not transparent about what they charge. Thank you for sharing that information. It at least gives new photographers an idea of what’s possible depending on their current market. I am finding value in your videos.

This is great advice. I was told to not start out cheap so that I'm not known as the cheap guy, because it's hard to pull out from that. So I've just been building up my portfolio to legitimize my prices when I do emerge. We need more ppl like you thats willing to be transparent. Appreciate the video

Great info! I'm an artist that shoots other artists and bands for fun while we're in the studio, hanging out or playing shows. I have a huge portfolio from years of shooting & editing. Glad I came across your channel while structuring out my pricing and packages! Thanks for sharing, big SUB! 🙏🤝

Not only does charging low for your work devalue your brand. But it also hurts all other artist out there. The more and more people think it’s “easy to produce art” and that “art should be cheap” the harder it is to convince people our work is worth the money. It’s always easier to ask high and then adjust down vs starting low and asking for more.
Also if you wanna make a living from your work you honestly don’t want the customers who aren’t willing to pay for it! Let the cheap skates use their phones and take selfies haha.
No one questions a mechanic why it cost 1000 bucks to fix your car. They may not like it but they pay it. Why is art any different

Im starting off and my photo quality is not so bad (for a beginner) but i shot this guys car and i charged him $60 for 30 pictures and it took 2 hours of shooting. Im not happy with the amount that i charged him because i felt it was too low for the quality pictures that he actually got but i mean it was a great first experience but now ik to not only include the qquality and time but also gas, software, etc. Thank you for helping

This is why I’ve been stressing to friends and family that I want to build my portfolio because I know everyone is gonna want something for nothing. I want to be able to charge what I want to charge. Also I work full time at my main job so editing is having to be done during my breaks, lunch and after I clock out then late into the night. I’d be a fool to even ask for only $50-$75 even for just starting out. Like no hun I’m taking time away from my sleeping and relaxing to edit and plan shoots.
