I use the following method of pricing. I ask the customer what they want and expect for a project/shoot. Then I ask them what their budget is for the project so we can go over what can be accomplished within the budget.

The better answer is, “Well it depends on the scope of work and what type of license for use for you require.”

Anyone shopping based on price will not have a clue about copyright and licensing of images and when they find out that can become a big headache. Answering as I suggest is a way to educate them and to gauge/temper their expectations. Once you know what they expect you can give them and expectation what they can expect to pay for shooting and editing, what the deliverables will be and the timeline for delivering.

Any advice for someone who is relatively new to photography and doesn’t even know when to start charging? I’ve had people ask me to take pictures, and sometimes how much I charge, but I have only ever said no charge because I use it as a learning experience. How do I know at what point to start charging?

Part 2 is not worth watching. There's no substance as to packaging, formula for equipment rates (camera, lights, stands, softboxes, apple boxes, etc), what's your hourly, and if there's a need for production insurance for to give to the produce or client. I mean it depends on the photo shoot.

Also how much you'd share for a photo session in a location and studio pricing would be different.

Also, model waiver form is not mentioned.

If you're a beginner, there's no framework here. There's better YT creators that guide you on these details and also in the subReddits and FB Group offer more details if you search for it.

Even ChatGPT would give you a framework much better than this clickbait short that's a repost from TikTok.
