NASA Awarded SpaceX Dragon a $267K Contract To Rescue Boeing Starliner!
Space is always hard, especially for something like Boeing's Starliner!
Realizing this, NASA just officially awarded a big contract to SpaceX's Dragon for space rescue missions, possibly starting with Starliner astronauts.
So how will this happen? Why was Dragon chosen?
Let’s find out on today's episode of Great SpaceX.
Recently, on July 15, NASA officially awarded SpaceX a contract worth $267,000 for using Dragon as a rescue vehicle. The contract emphasizes it as a "Special Study for Emergency Response," highlighting the critical role of this vehicle.

While the contract value is relatively low compared to others, its importance is immense. Rescue missions involve human life and safety, top priorities in space exploration, making the role of SpaceX Dragon even more crucial.
This contract comes at a crucial time, as SpaceX faces challenges with Falcon 9 incidents. Despite these setbacks, SpaceX vehicles remain the most reliable, with achievements far surpassing others. Therefore, choosing SpaceX vehicles for such an important mission is entirely understandable.

And we might not have to wait long for SpaceX Dragon to take on a rescue role, possibly soon with Starliner.
After the June 5 launch, Boeing's spacecraft has yet to bring its two astronauts back, due to ongoing thruster problems and helium leaks.
Faced with this situation, during a teleconference on July 10, NASA announced their intention to bring the astronauts back on Starliner. However, they also made a revelation: "Then, you know, then we've talked about the beautiful thing about the commercial crew program is that there are two, two vehicles two different systems that we could use to return crew”.
----
To be resolved, thank you.

Er, isn't this a NASA contract to do a STUDY about how to use Crew Dragon to do the rescue. A real Falcon 9/Dragon rescue launch would cost a whole lot more than 267 thousand dollars!

Bullshit clickbait title: NASA Awarded SpaceX Dragon a $267K Contract To Rescue Boeing Starliner!. Be honest with your title. I'm not the first to notice you stretching the truth. And this isn't the first time. You guys need to stick to the facts and stop sensationalising them in your title. Like the other guy said, one more time and I'll join him in unsubscribing and not recommending your content. You need to grow up.

'NASA Awarded SpaceX Dragon a $267K Contract To Rescue Boeing Starliner!' Not consistent with the content of the video. One more like this and unfollow and not recommend.

Click Bait. Click Bait Click Bait. SpaceX gets $276K only to study the feasibility of having a Dragon Capsule on standby should a rescue mission be needed. That is not enough money to fuel a Falcon 9 Rocket, much less send Dragon to space.

This video misreports the contract.
The contract is not to rescue Starliner and probably couldn't have been done for the funds authorized. The contract is to evaluate setting up a Starship capability to perform an impromptu rescue mission for any reason in the future and likely means a Starship in constant readiness for launch compared to current missions which requires at least a couple weeks to fully develop and prepare ..

And Falcon 9 is not fully grounded. From what I understand, NASA and the FAA are willing to grant SpaceX an authorized launch without completing a full investigation if the situation warrants and the status of the current findings and temporary conclusions are acceptable.

CLICKBAIT AGAIN !!!! The quality of your content has gone seriously DOWNHILL. Even you say "Do you think rescuing starliner will come true?". A contract for rescue missions is nothing to do with Starliner. It is just a general safety net for astronauts in any current or future space station. It is just as possible for dragon to get an unexpected fault while docked and the astronauts need to be rescued. This is really misleading click bait content. Unsubscribed due to so many misleading inaccurate titles.

Is every title of yours clickbait now, wtf man

Your title is a bit misleading, the contract does not specify what it is for. But, irregardless, I think with the proliferation of maned space flights, it would be a good idea to have a general purpose rapid response rescue vehicle as its only a matter of time before a ship gets stranded in space. I just hope to god they are using compatible docking systems.

Seriously?
What a click bait title - blocked

Yes. But this is just for a study. No mission is planned. But sensationalizing this as a huge announcement and mission is borderline clickbait. Not cool

Why are all of the Dragons "prototypes"? To me they are well established flying spacecraft beyond the prototype stage.

They need to send Dragon to bring our people back and remote return the Boeing Starliner junk and if it burns up on the way back or bounces off into space it will be no big loss. The fact that NASA is still considering trying to bring our people back on an obviously compromised Starliner capsule after the mistakes they made with our shuttle crews being lost because of their screw ups just baffles the mind.

$267, 000 won't even get u a single family home in many areas

Boeing would charge a least 10 miillion dollars to mess it up and ask for more.

Sorry. I've seen too many of these videos and the content is repetitive, dubious, speculative click bait. No longer interested.

Obviously that's just the rental fee for the capsule. Mileage and fuel is extra. Like renting a U-Haul van for the day for $19.95.

So why would NASA give so little money 💰 to do an space rescue you would think at least a million dollars for the rescue. I myself think it's an insult for a company that is so great and advanced.
