The trunk on your maple looks great. Definitely relate to the 'i'll just have a look at the nebari....oops' repot session!

Looks like a fun activity. It’s always exciting getting access to Ray’s expertise. Yours looks like it’s off to a great start. It’s nice to see everyone’s smiling faces without masks. Thanks, keep growing

3 carnage cams in a video!
Boldly went where no man has gone before! 😂

The root pruning is not for the faint-hearted, but the tree looks very nice in the end: lots of potential! Keep us posted on its development! 👍

Wow…way to bully around those Amurs! I love the aggressive approach. Sounds like Ray’s workshops are super valuable. Xin posted last year on how Ray cuts them off at the ground year after year to develop those awesome trunks. I would learn/hear/see more on this!
And then you made my morning going after the roots like that! Daggum that was killer, brother!
Sure do appreciate all your sharing, Jay!

I think you made some great decisions jay. I’m surprised at how shrubby those things get. Such great material to work with.

Really great video. Workshop looked really fun. learned something, “don’t have to worry about dieback on amur maple”. …. “I am just going to scrape the surface of the roots”. LOL. Good stuff Jay.

Looked like a fun meeting! Btw, I thought cut paste would help avoiding new growth but I've had a ficus growing right through it lol

So much carnage! That's a really great looking Amur Maple. I have a bunch of these but non as good as yours. I fell in love with amurs when I first found one spring up in the yard 5iah years ago. I fou d the mother tree and grab hand fulls of seeds every fall now. If you ever want some, let me know!
