My only regret is that I didn’t get bit by the bonsai bug when I was your age. All great stuff, and material, Thanks

Nice wiring job. On the amur maple you have cut it just below a perfect leader, would have saved you a year of growing it from scratch, and it was perfectly positioned, in my opinion. Either way, I like your trees, they have nice character, looking forward to the next update. All best, Toni.

That’s an awesome material! My amur maple is just finger size 5 ft tall.

I admit I cried a little when you cut the amur maple... I am new to bonsai but I would have cut it higher! Cant wait to see updates :)

Just subscribed to your channel. Good stuff! I've been working on some Amur maples the past few years too but I haven't really figured them out yet. All mine are grown from seed, and I find them to be a little sensitive to both direct sun, and pruning. Seems like no matter what time of year I prune, they get sad and don't really want to bounce back. Probably something I'm doing wrong, just haven't pin pointed it yet. I like yours!

Man i wished you'd done a V cut on that Amur vs removing that whole top piece

Founders: solid shit. Love the trees and I have similar deciduous stuff with deadwood. Love it. I do agree with the comment below about your mega-chop of the Amur maple; it seems you could have eliminated enough of the straight section while still keeping one of the existing buds. May have been less risky, but hey...it’s gonna be cool regardless.

My Amur is turning some leaf black for some reason. The tree is about 20 years old and I see some root bark looks like is dying. Any idea what’s may be happening?
