FedEx employees have been stealing expensive electronics for a while. I had a trade in device stolen by FedEx last year. When you contact the manufacturer, they'll say they can't file a claim on their end and tell you to do it yourself. FedEx will then give you the run around and then ghost you after telling you they can't do anything/didn't find anything after their "internal investigation". Samsung charged me for the trade in value and it took months for them to waive the fee. Make sure you take a video when you pack your trade ins. My bil also had an Asus phone stolen by FedEx. So make sure you take a video when you unbox your shiny new electronics as well.

Here in the UK, you can not get a phone delivered without the person buying the phone having ID, as it is given to them by the delivery person, n and the other way is via the use of a PIN that will unlock the delivery to the person that ordered the phone

I’m a UPS driver and my entire center was instructed to always get a signature for Apple products whether it requires a signature or not. No Apple product says Apple anywhere on it, not even the return address but any UPS driver knows how to check if it’s from Apple

Literally never had a phone make it back to the manufacturer. It always mysteriously arrives empty.

My company is literally just having techs deliver the phones to you directly in person as the only way to stop theft of iphone

My iPhone 15 was just stolen via FedEx. Returned a broken phone with Apple’s Express Replacement and they claim it arrived empty, so somewhere along the route of FedEx it was stolen :/

That’s why I pick up my phone every year at the store. I just have it mailed to the store and go pick it up on that first day.

Okay but for something that expensive AT&t should have required a signature anyway

FEDEX SUCKS. They've never rung a door bell or knocked a door for me. It's like they're rooting for the porch pirates.
