I agree. And we also shouldn’t bail out banks, businesses and airlines.

We also shouldn’t have to bail out big companies. Let them fail!

A lot of stuff we “shouldn’t have to do” but when it’s big companies nobody bats an eye

We shouldn’t be letting these universities charge $60K+ for a review of high school, it’s rare for students to graduate with any actual skills they can apply in the workforce

The government also should not make predatory loans to children that haven't really got a clue about the world.

And we shouldn’t have to pay the medical for politicians for the rest of their lives. But no one say’s anything about that. Wonder why???

As a reminder, most everyone who had their debts forgiven did pay it back. Like more than the initial amount borrowed by a wide margin. And the balance remaining was sometimes still more than what they borrowed.

This comment section makes me happy with the amount of people clapping back about corporations and business/bank bailouts

Our government shouldn't be profiteering off of predatory lending nor should the banks or colleges.

This will end ugly you say. But every crash brings with it an equivalent market chance if you are early informed and equipped. I've seen folks amass up to $1m amid crash, and even pull it off easily in favorable conditions. Unequivocally, the bubble/collapse is getting somebody somewhere rich.

Predatory loans on fresh adults at 6-10% most definitely need regulation and forgiveness.

It's not that these people can't repay their debt or won't, it's the fact that they are paying double or triple the original debt and are stuck repaying it eternally.

Ok here’s where I’m at on the student loan situation as a college graduate who paid off their loan: people should be responsible for the amount they borrow. And some interest. However the issue for me is the predatory nature of a lot of these loans, where someone borrowed say $30k, they’ve paid $40k, and they still owe like $50k due to the predatory interest.

But the solution isn’t to pay for that remainder with taxes, it’s to pass legislation/ go after the predatory company’s and basically say you’ve been paid back with interest, the loan is done.

No reason people should have paid their loan back with interest and still owe more than the original loan.

Don't forgive student loan debt, instead decrease the interest rates to be no more than 2%.

A nation should invest in the next generation's education. In case people have not noticed it, we are living in a knowledge-based world. People are not paying off "your student" debt, they are investing. Look to other nations where they invest in universal healthcare and free third level education. That is how they have decided to invest. Universal healthcare makes immediate economic sense to a nation. It means productivity increases from existing population rather than relying on immigrants.

Free education, means investment in productivity in 10 years for the whole economy.

That said, not all courses should be covered, only those which are beneficial to the nation.

I agree. But where is the uproar when these multi million dollar corporations are being bailed out because they miss managed their business? 😮😮😮😮

I completely agree. I went to a sensible college, for a degree in a high demand industry, didn't differ payments, worked the entire time I attended, then after graduation I worked hard and lived modestly until it was paid off, about 10 years. Why do I then need to pay for your college too?! Not morally right at all.
