The guy next to Jesus on the cross had no time to do any works, but was saved by faith.

1. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
2. "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." (James 2:26)

We are not saved by works but by faith; but someone who claims to be saved yet has no works does not have real faith.

Catholic beliefs “We believe we are saved by grace through faith, working ourselves out in love “

And yet in the book of James it is clear, faith without works is DEAD faith.

Firstly it's true that RCs don't believe that they are saved by their works, anymore than a fundamentalist Baptist thinks that he is saved by his works when he suggests that God saved him BECAUSE he believed the Gospel.

Part of the problem is the use of the word "saved" because salvation is more than merely getting ones sins forgiven. Salvation is threefold, with some extras inbetween: Justification, Sanctification, and Glorification. Romanists conflate Justification and Sanctification firstly by denying that righteousness is IMPUTED (as the Scriptures declare) and instead insist that righteousness is INFUSED (which is found nowhere in Scripture, with the possible exception of a kind of infused righteousness that is given to the sinner by the Holy Spirit, enabling the sinner to turn from his sin with grief and hatred of it, unto Christ in faith, leaning upon Him only for his justification).

This is further compounded by Rome inventing Venial and Deadly sins. While it's true that some sins in themselves, and by reason of several aggravations, are more heinous in the sight of God than others, it is also true that every sin deserves God's wrath and curse. But because Rome says that righteousness is INFUSED, and basically requires perfect obedience toward God from the moment of baptism, and therefore has to invent a means of expiating those sins so that the believer won't die and go to Hell, so penance (another unbiblical word and concept) is required in the form of repetitious prayers (which Christ said not to do), both to God and to Mary (which is never taught in the Scriptures and is in conflict with the first commandment and makes Mary a deity who is able to not only hear but act upon the prayers of millions of people per day, and at any given moment).

For the Roman Catholic, the blessedness is not guaranteed except the dying believer enters punishment in Purgatory (another unbiblical and wicked concept that denies the sufficiency of Christ's suffering and death and the fact that He makes continual intercession for His sheep) for hundreds, thousands, even millions of years, in order to make himself righteous enough (Pelagianism) by his or her own suffering for their sins committed after baptism.

There are NUMEROUS other problems rife in RCC doctrine, but to the point of works with saving faith -- it's true that saving faith is a lively faith, it's a faith that works. Anyone who says "I believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ" but who is devoid of good works, is, as the Lord said through James, one with dead faith. And dead faith is not saving faith. The Holy Spirit is alive and brings life to everyone who is in Christ, and it is therefore impossible for that person to NOT do good works.

But Rome teaches that these good works actually participate with our faith, and that these two are what CAUSE our Justification. This is simply not biblical.

Anyone who is truly justified is one who experiences some level of sanctification (though never perfection in this life), and is finally one who is glorified in the end. Justification is an ACT of God's free grace, wherein He pardons all our sins and accepts up as righteous in His sigh, only for the righteousness of Christ IMPUTED to us, and RECEIVED by faith ALONE. However, it is never a faith that remains alone. Sanctification is the WORK of God's free grace, whereby we are renewed in the whole man after the image of God, and are enabled more and more to die unto sin, and live unto righteousness. If there is no sanctification, there was no justification. However, if there are both of these then it is evidence that we are actually saved and the final act of God is to glorify us, along with Christ, where believers, being raised up in glory, shall be openly acknowledged and acquitted in the day of judgment, and made perfectly blessed in the full enjoying of God unto all eternity.

That isn't really the argument but, as he says, a misunderstanding. The question is what is the effective cause of justification. The answer is that we are justified through faith itself and that faith is not ours but it's given to us by Godv as an act of grace.
Those who misunderstand the point then say "but faith without works is dead" but nobody claims a faith that is alone can save.
The Reformed position is that c we are saved by grace alone, it is entirely unmerited, though faith alone (because it is given to us by grace and is unmerited) but not a faith that is alone. We are also given more than faith (the Holy Spirit, a new heart etc etc) and God has ordained works for us to do but those other things we are given are not the cause of our justification.
The RC position says that unless there have been works there is no justification. This contradicts what Paul taught about Abraham and how he was justified.
There is another group (btw Protestants didn't found denominations they were ejected, persecuted and murdered out of the churches by the Papists.) who teach that a confession of faith is sufficient to justify someone. This position is refuted by scripture, a "faith" that doesn't produce works is dead (it doesn't die it is never alive) and only a living faith can justify anyone (show that they have faith). Abraham had his faith all the time but he demonatrated it 25 years after he was justified (according to scripture) when he offered up his son. Just as Jesus was justified - shown to be who he said he was - when he rose from the dead. It wasn't that Jesus wasn't who he was before but he was publicly displayed to be righteous when he rose.

There isn’t a scripture in KJV that backs your argument
But through Christ are we saved

RC here born ad raised. Faith saves us, but faith without works arising from charity (love of God and, because of it, neighbor) is not the right kind of faith. Faith is the starting point, and faith, hope and charity must inform/imbue our efforts in anything in our life of faith.

WE ARE SAVES BY GRAVE THROUGH FAITH AND NOT OF OUR WORKS, SO NO ONE CAN BOAST ! AND NO ONE CAN SNATCH US OUT THE LORDS HAND. SIMPLY BELIEVE UPON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND YE SHALL BE SAVED!!

The saying was Sola Scriptura, which means Scripture Alone and comes from the understanding that people need to let the Bible interpret itself and stop creating man made doctrines. Man made doctrines are what got the Pharisees into trouble. Btw, the Catholic Church persecuted them for it. Killed John Tyndall, Erasmus, Martin Luther, and many many more…

Roman Catholics are misunderstanding Matthew 16:18.

The confession that "Jesus is the Christ the Son of God" is the foundational truth that Christ builds His church on.

This is Peter, and on this rock I will build my church. (Singular as in 1 church as in the Catholic Church)
All other churches are founded by men with their own Heretical beliefs

But you still pray to the saints, and you must believe in the Catholic Church as a confession of your faith. Allow graven images, all the extra stuff such rosary and praying for the dead and purgatory. Just to name a few.

I don't care what's the misconceptions but that would be and had already in their faith.. so it doesn't matter if the church didn't mean it.. but that's what people said that they are saved with grace and works.. and that's wrong and blashpemous to the salvation..

Works as giving with the anticipation of reciprocation is a purchase. God said love the way I’ve loved you, which was not a purchase but a gift a free and unmerited gift without reciprocal action. You should do good works because it’s good for you. The reward for washing your dishes as clean dishes. God wants you to do good because it’s good for you. What God did was love people that couldn’t love him back and then he asked you to love the way he loved you. Good luck with that, that’s gonna hurt. Loving someone that doesn’t have it coming? Try that out for a while.

Too many religious practices see comfort I surrounding themselves by those most like themselves. That’s not what Jesus did. That’s what the disciples did. Too many follow the disciples while claiming to follow Christ.
