RealVNC also allows remote control through the Internet, just like Teamviewer.
RealVNC even has a FREE account option that allows you to control up to 5 PERSONAL computers, without any limitations. All with ENCRYPTED connections.

-Great video Professor David, wonderful content always ... !!!
-The philosophy of using VNC is always to have a Server running on the machine waiting for a connection, and a Viewer which is the program that accesses the machine running the server, so we have to install this to on the machines (the server on the machine you want to access, view or control remote, and the Viewer on the machine you use to control the others), in some VNC distribution the program are separate (server ans viewer) and in others the 2 programs are install together.
-So I always used VNC when I worked at the government company because it was the best way to remotely solve problems in the machines.
-We used RealVNC there, which can also be installed on Windows, MAC and Linux (even on Raspbery Pi) and even today I use it because it is VNC but it has 128 bit AES-GCM encrypted connection according to what I read in their white paper.
-Despite that it in the free version can only be installed on only 5 different machines per user, which is enough for the machines you have at home now and infinitely practically in the paid version.
-They have a difference if I understood correctly that the VNC server running on the local machine has to connect to their network and their server creates the VPN tunnel that connects the user's machines.
-In local area networks without internet connection I would use the same solution that you used on video more simple with no encryption, or use with a VPN tunnel to control machines over WAN or Internet.
-Thanks for the knowledge ... !!!

RealVNC Viewer supports OSX user auth instead of VNC default password and has an iOS app.

I actually had an Idea. We have had a rise of breakins and thefts in my neighborhood and actually thought of setting up my laptop to have vnc or something similar in the even that it got stolen I would hopefully be able to gather enough OSINT data to build a case for law enforcement to recover the laptop. The only catch is that obviously the laptop could not have any sensitive or personal information stored to it and it could not be password protected as I would want them to be able to log in. Is this something that's feasible?
