What is the difference between echo sounder and sonar?

An echo sounder, often known as a fish finder or depth sounder, uses a fixed mount transducer to view the seafloor beneath the vessel. Using a hoist-operated transducer element that scans 360 degrees, a sonar allows you to see the waters ahead, port, starboard, or aft of the vessel.
