Some coworkers/friends/family I've known that have spent time in both Jail and Prison have pretty unanimously said that being in jail for long periods of time is way worse than prison.

In NYC, you get a prison cell for 1600$ a month.

I had a 30 minute long argument with my mother who thought jail and prison were the same, definitely gonna send this to them

Ive spent plenty of time in both. Always pick prison. They are both miserable, but atleast in prison u can work towards time off ur sentence by doing school and work. And then the other stuff mentioned in the video

I've never heard anyone say, "I'm going to prison!" So happily.

*Keep in mind that jails are often in your own county or*
*nearby. While you can be sent to any prison in your state, *
*not necessarily the closest one. In NY, you first get sent*
*to Elmira in the bottom center of upstate NY. Then you*
*will get sent elsewhere within a few weeks or months.*

Having 24/7 surveillance could actually save your life while in the case of jail not having it could cost you your life.

[EDIT] Holy cow! 4k and 9 comments?! Thank you so much.

An important detail that went unmentioned here is, while jail will typically be less comfortable, it also means you likely won’t have to deal with as many perpetrators of worse crimes. Safer people to live around

Today years old and I just realized that Jail and Prison are two separate things and not synonym of one another. The more you know, so thanks LawByMike!

My ex fiancé loved jail. He kept returning there all the time. I honestly believe he enjoyed being in jail more than being in the outside world. And honestly they had a flat screen tv, books to read, plenty of other people he got along with. He was happy.
