3. Good habits make time your ally.
4. Bad habits make time your enemy.
5. Four stages of habit formation - noticing, wanting, doing, and liking.
6. Many people think they lack motivation when what they really lack is clarity.
7. Give your goals a time and place to live in the world.
8. You want to put more steps between you and the bad behavior and fewer steps between you and the good behavior.
9. Optimize for the starting line, not the finish line.
10. The best way to change long term behavior is with short term feedback.

I love this talk! So much content, nicely condensed, perfectly weighted with evidence (scientific studies) and personal anecdotes. I've been following James for ages, but still found the talk so new and fresh. And I just love the "Every action that you take is actually a vote for the type of person that you want to become" -- definitely worth having as a mantra! Thank you, James.

A quick reminder for me :

. Decide What + Where + When + When specifically
. Prepare to Fail to know what you'll do to fix it
. Availability of Options makes you able to choose the bad things - remove what's bad
. Lower friction between Good habits and you and Increase it for Bad habits.
. Quantity Is better than Quality (at the beginning)
. Focus on How to start rather than the finishing line
. Habits are the first 2 minutes
. If it only takes 2 minutes, do it now
. Find/Create a reward in the Good things you do that have a long time reward !

I decided to start Gym and become fit on the 6 February 2021, still going 6 days a week without skipping. Small changes big results I am an example. It depends on you to start changing. Much respect ✊ to this man.

Every statement from James Clear is clear and practical at the same time.
