Hey guys, if the speed of the talking is too fast for you, click at the wheel and change the speed to 0, 75 😃

This is off topic but what a soothing voice she has, and beautiful smile!

I wish there existed these subtitles under people in real life as well...

The empathic introduction you gave is really useful. I often feel like a child speaking a foreign language, and I don't have the same humor, and less competant. It was nice, the way you described this feeling.

Holy shit, I understood everything without looking at the subtitles. I think it's because you speak so clearly though haha. Thank you! ❤️

Every time I go to Berlin, the locals do as you say; they speak to me in English when I speak to them in German. It's infuriating. I just kindly say, "Auf Deutsch, bitte. Ich möchte (mein) Deutsch üben." Then they smile and say "Ok" and speak to me only in German. Now I know an even more polite way to make the same request. Danke sehr!!

I practice German (and all other languages I have studied) by talking to myself while I walk. I give a running commentary to myself about all that I am seeing or doing. This gives me ample opportunity to practice the same sentences over and over again to make them smoother, with no pressure of an audience. Afterwards, the smoothness carries over to real situations.

Thank you. This is really helpful. I am around A2-B1 and although I can form sentences fairly well, when someone speaks back at me, I freeze.

I'm an American in Berlin. I'm still at level A 2/2, because having two young children slowed the learning process. I can't tell you how encouraging this video is, particularly when you are feeling slumped with the language. It's so nice to hear this kind of support. The video is great, very different quality compared to the other Deutsch language chanels. Thank you!

Was Sie am 0:18 sagten, dass ein Freund von Ihnen wie ein Kind fühle wenn er Deutsch spreche, erinnerte mich an einen Rat von einem anderen YouTube Kanal. Es lautet: Never be shy and don’t make the grown-up mistake. Der grown-up Fehler ist zu viel nachdenken. Hab keine Angst davor Fehler zu machen. Kinder machen das nicht. Kinder plappern einfach drauflos. Sie reden einfach und überlegen sich gar nicht ob sie was falsch sagen. Also, sei ein Kind!

Cari, thank you for this video! This type of videos I like the most - when you speak German slowly and explain something for a couple of minutes. Please, more, more, more of it :) ! For an intermediate who understands something around 60% of conversations from streets, this is a huge help - listening to you and understanding 90% of it! Good luck with Polish; greetings from Poland!

In my last visit to Germany, I found if I asked for a menu 'auf Deutsch' and ordered in German, the waiters tended to try to speak German with me, even if I struggled a bit.

I am currently learning German for 2 months now, and everything you said rings true for me! I spoke English most of my life, my mother tongue less so since i moved overseas 16 years ago. My goal is to speak passable German within a year, by October. I am learning a lot of words and rules now, but it does overwhelm me sometimes. Thanks for the tips!
