About Troubleshooter being the first chapter, I think they changed that. With the DLC and such it's already insanely long.. I'm 170 hours in on my second playthrough and not even halfway (!!!!), judging by the amount of masteries left to collect. I am also in Chapter 5 already, so...
It's just SO good, and so cheap for what you get! SO MUCH CONTENT, so much replayability, very solid story, so much customizations, builds, gear etc. Crafting, varied enemies, varied maps, varied objectives, ...
It's one of my absolute top games.

Octopath Traveler has a very unique and good aesthetics. Same art style but is tactical turn-based: Triangle Strategy! 😄

For anyone reading this.
Please, do not start playing the Trails Series with Cold Steel IV.
There is so much going on, the cast of characters is so big, and the world and the characters are so well developed, that you really should do yourself a favor and start from the first Cold Steel at least.
I say at least because the first Cold Steel is actually the 6th game in the series, but yoy can start from there if you want.

Amazing list! I’ll try some of them as I haven’t played a lot of those !! BUT You left out the Aterlier franchise, Atelier Ryza 1&2 and Atelier Sophie 2, these are great jrpgs.

Great recs. My only issues with Troubleshooter was the large sizes of the maps and how enemies end up spread out to all the corners so many turns are spent running around trying to get every enemy.
As for Edge of Eternity, it bothered me how long it took to get an additional party member. Like I get the story focuses heavily in the journey of the two main siblings, but fights really start to drag on with only two party members.

My issue with Troubleshooter is the English translation and characters. While I wouldn't say the translation is bad, the grammar does get awkward at times. However this was years ago, might have to try again and see if there were any improvements.

I recommend you to please check out 'This Way Madness Lies' from veteran devs, Zeboyd Games. It's got very authentic SNES visuals.

It came out recently to glowing critic reviews.
It probably should have been appended to this list or it should replace something else in this list.

If you love persona, you would wanna try Shin Megami Tensei V.
But always keep in mind that it's not Persona.

Persona : Join your friends and fight shadows
SMT : Join up with Demons to kill your friends

It's kinda like that.

So far I haven't enjoyed 3 as much but I'm still at the start
