I like your “sparse” decor. I agree it is less stress. Less items to clean or dust. You got an A+ from me.

So glad to see you gearing Carter to clean up after himself, and not being one of those mom's who do everything for him.

Teach your kids to pick up after themselves. If they can walk, they can clean up. You are doing them an enormous service by teaching them how to do stuff, while they are very small. When they are older, it won't be so difficult for them. I wish - badly - someone had done it for me.

Completely agree with procrastination cleaning and inviting people over. The idea of someone coming over and seeing my place (or my car if I'm driving us) makes me notice every speck of dirt and dust. I start cleaning like crazy!

I love the fact that you’re a minimalist! I’m the same way lol I barely have things in my house. My decor is so plain and simple. I love it that way. Less mess to clean.

Routine is the key for me as I’m 56, and no longer have the stamina I had when I was younger!

I’m with you Brittany on the minimalism! It gives me peace and joy when my house is decluttered. Less is more as they say

I agree with the less decorations! I got rid of a lot and went very minimal with it and it has been a game changer for me, personally!

My mom's motto was always "never leave a room empty handed" works wonders.

Brittany, I love what you do but keep in mind that a little mess is a sign of a living life. Greetings from a cold Buenos Aires

My mom always told me to stay in the habit of cleaning and cooking at home so that it becomes natural! I love your minimal decor, having too much stuff gets very overwhelming!

Yass! I have adopted a lot of these habits, soooo good! My house takes like 5-10 minutes tops, to have ready for a visit from the Queen lol and everyone does their part, my daughter is about to turn 17 on Friday, my little boy is 10 with global developmental delays, so he's still developmentally like a 5-6 year old, and he unloads/reloads the dishwasher, puts his toys away, tidies his bedroom, puts his washing away, and makes his own bed! And yes, of course, we do it together, that is key! When teaching my kids when they were little, like around 1-2 years old, I always had them help me tidy up their toys and put their laundry in their drawers etc... so by the time they were old enough to do it themselves, they knew exactly how to do it, and where everything went.
