Did you know Vibram didn't even *want* to make the Five Fingers? They only wanted to be a manufacturer of out-soles for other footwear companies and they ended up producing the Five Fingers line essentially as a favor to a buddy.

Merrell's Vapor line used to be better when they had a wide toe-box. The Vapor 4 was the last to have that, they went narrower with the 5 and on. No idea why, but they don't have a wide toe-box any longer.

Have all three of your Vivo’s.
The Vivobarefoot Magna Forest ESC I wear daily.
The Red Vivobarefoot Primus Trail II FG when I traveled to Switzerland.
And the black Vivobarefoot Primus Lite III when I need them at work or on a date night.

Love the Vivo

After thinking it over for quite some time and based on my personal experience, I find the Vibram KSO Evo to be the shoe which resembles being barefoot the most. Of course I also own 3 Vivobarefoot models namely Primus Lite 3, Lite Knit, and the Magna. And also, a pair of Xero sandals. I also happen to own a pair of Japanese Tabi running shoes which have really great ground feel as well. Don’t get me wrong, IMO they are ALL awesome! The Vibrams narrowly edge out the others when it comes to upper flexibility, sole flexibility and toe splay. When it comes to closeness to the ground, the Vivo primus lites with insoles removed win by a hair.

With that being said, I remember commenting on your most hated barefoot shoes video regarding the VFF’s. I would still never wear them for first dates or meeting up with girls for the first time !

My 5 favorite barefoot shoes: 5> VFF V-Run: a joy to run with on road (I don't like so much trail VVF because I always get lots of things stuck between toes); Following 4 are Vivobarefoot: 4> old Modus model (with the velcro): just a little more stiff than usual and that makes them ideal for bike riding; 3> Magna trail: can be easyly worn on trail and in city; 2> Primus trail FG: my do-everything shoe (and the All Weather versions are great for bike riding when there are light showers (but they are not thoroughly waterproof)) ; 1> Gobi: my go-to shoes when a sportive look is not really welcome (mainly at work).
Several years ago, I used to wear Merrell and switched to barefoot shoes without real intention about that; but these shoes became too narrow at mid-foot and their arch support became too prominent. And then I've discovered VVF and Vivobarefoot brands...

I prefer the Magna forest esc. It is an absolute beast of a hiking Shoe.

But my go to everywhere shoes are the Primus Lite 3
:)

It was YouTube Channels Like yours that made me Transition to minimal shoes half a year ago. One of the best decisions of my life.

Good picks! Primus Trail FG are my favorite trail running shoes, and Tracker ESC are the most heavy duty barefoot boots around! 👏👏

Good Video. I recently started wearing a pair of Wilding Nebula's and love them but no closet is complete with at least a few different pairs of barefoot shoes. The Primus Lite III's look legit. Since I just found your channel I look forward to deep diving on your content. Thanks!

I've just bought 2 pairs of canvas Splay shoes. Pretty cheap and ideal for everyday life. I'm considering buying their new leather ones.

I love the primus trail FG I guess my only problem is it’s like that again route was there very heavy but they gave you is kind of confusing now if they can come up with something like that in the sub, 8 ounce for size 9 be great

I have 2 pairs of Vivos and I love them. I got these because of your fab shoe review vids. Funny how my feet have already adjusted themselves to wider shoes and when I wear 'other' ones, I can really feel the difference in widths. #vivobarefoot (Primus Knit Trail and the Magna Forest ESC ) is probably going to be my lifetime barefoot shoes I'll stay with.

Great video, can you do one on the best winter shoes? I'm concerned that if I have to stand around on a muddy field watching my daughter play football, my feet will get frostbite with such thin soles. 🙂

Any advice on winter wear? I started wearing barefoot shoes this year and loving them. I have the Vivobarefoot Addis and the Primus Lite III, and the knitted one, really like them but I feel like none of them are suitable for winter. Mainly for city use, ideally some water resistance and breathability.

I got barefoot shoes a few days ago, and when I tried to describe the feeling after my first longer walk in them to my mom, I ended up comparing the feeling to getting bundled up in the winter. Essentially regular sneakers were comparable to being really bundled up(I'm talking beanie, scarf, mittens, maybe a couple thick jackets, just something that would make you barely feel the cold(If at all)), and wearing barefoot shoes for the first time felt like just wearing regular hoodie after spending my whole life bundling up, I was still somewhat protected from the elements, but I could feel what going on around me for the first time, it was weird, yet incredible. Now, I wouldn't recommend doing the hoodie thing if you live somewhere that has harsh winters, and I only made the comparison because I'm from somewhere where a hoodie is enough to protect you from the mid winter chill.
