Agree with you here. Software needs to catch up with the hardware at this point. I am kinda excited that I don’t feel like I need to run out and buy the latest one now!

I feel like last year iOS was focused on the iPhone, I’m hoping, REALLY hoping, that IPadOS will be the focus this year. Why have all this power if we can’t really even use it.

Hey, fantastic human being. :) I am pretty underwhelmed yet happy that I don't need to buy a new iPad Pro this year :D iPad Pro 2018 12.9 inch, still going strong 💪

Hahahaha, I love your honesty.

I think they wanted to include their new silicon branding but in the end it's all numbers and not necessary to upgrade every year. It's just a better option for someone that would buy an ipad for the first time, or for the first time in a while

iPad is still a very shitty excuse to spend so much money, until it actually gets apps that can utilize the hardware from 2018
They should just make a new Mac with a touchscreen really🙄🙄

My take on the 2021 iPP: it’s finally differentiated from the rest of the iPads in the Apple stable, more of a serious ‘Pro’ device. I suspect we’ll see ‘Pro’ apps this summer - maybe Final Cut and/or Logic. The hardware capability seems to be approaching that possibility anyway. Will I get one? Nope. It’s serious overkill for me both in power AND price. I’m still on a 2018 iPad Pro which more than meets my current needs. But I’m happy to see 🍎 continuing to improve for those who need it and can afford it.

Sane, smart response. A refreshing change from the silly spec mania too many review channels are based on.

I will be getting this one because my several models old ipad pro is now becoming rather sluggish and the battery is not what it was. At the time it was released people were saying the same sort of thing as you have mentioned regarding the hardware being so fast that it didn't need to go any quicker. I will appreciate getting the faster speed of the M1 chip but also it should have much improved battery life if the performance of the M1's in the new macs is anything to go by. For me it is the right machine and at the right time, I will join the pre-order at the end of April.

Great Review. My strugle with my very new iPad pro is that it still feels like the Baby OS. I would want to have a Finder like filemanager. There are still way to many barriers if I just want to copy files, share it or make safety Copys and continue working with open files.
And the worst of all is Music or whatever is left from former iTunes. This app is pretty much useless and just messes with songs. So better improve on the software then hardware.

If I load up more than 2 or 3 of my engineering PDFs in good reader than it becomes slow with parts of the screen failing to completely render. I cannot function with this limitation. I have no idea if the problem is the app or some limitation with the iPad. I will try the new pro to see if it solves the problem. Also, the thunderbolt port is of interest as is the extra ram. I do believe Apple will be forced to bring their own pro apps to iPad after this move or their reputation will suffer. It is the only logical move for them now. I’d rather have the hardware in place before the software because the other way is definitely not going to satisfy. This way forces them to respond.

Agreed, a lot of software and usability issues could be more quickly resolved but some have been lingering for years. I wish Apple did a big data collection drive on actual user requested features sometime. My 2018 iPad still works and I'm using it for most tasks to do with work, however I still have to use a laptop for basics.

What about the 8 or 16gb RAM? I think large books and PDF files will benefit from it

MacOS on iPad pro. There's a trend on making the ipad pro more powerful. IPAD pro is the best tablet money can buy. But now it has all the hardware requirements and support needed to become a laptop. What's holding apple from announcing that new iPads will receive MacOS at WWDC 2021? Now that MacOS natively supports the iPad and iPhone apps too. IPad pro with MacOS would be the ultimate device. Better display, better camera, better potability, 5G, touch screen, apple pencil, promotion 120hz. If Apple were to actually do this, I'd get the new iPad pro in a heartbeat. My question is that would you? Would you mind using 2 in 1 apple laptop that's also the best tablet there is?

I confess I was a bit impressed by the new iPad Pro, especially the 2TB real estate of storage. But as far as innovations go, there is still a curve where people will actually find out things to do with them, instead of having them fill in a gap they actually had prior to that. Maybe the 2022 iPad Pro features even more relevant developments (iPad OS and MacOS finally merged; broad peripheral compatibility; reliable data transfer to external storage devices, just to name a few). Price is not something to worry about - Apple products will always be too expensive.

I’m a dev, if the hardware is powerfull then I can make software for use that. It's like soil in good condition.

Ofcourse I'm looking with one eye at the new iPad Pro, but... I always skip 1 or 2 versions. After one year of constant working with the iPad many hours each day, my iPad Pro 2020 is still working like a charm, heck, even the 2018 iPad Pro is still a beast of a computer. I can imagine that power users, like you and me, would love the new features, but I'm not going to buy the new iPad Pro. But... if my iPad drops out of my hands and a car drives over it... then I would order a new iPad Pro immediately. Don't worry, I would throw myself in front of that car if it came too close to my beloved iPad Pro haha 😂😛😆
