There is absolutely nothing wrong with the M1 iPad pro. Don't be fooled by these tech nerds.

I paid my M1 off and I might was well keep it. Great speakers and performance in this day and age. Maybe I’ll grab the M6 😂

I upgraded from the 2021 M1 Pro to the m4 pro, and very happy with all the upgrades, shame on Apple to not allow previous pencils and keyboards to work on the new iPads, I feel Apple is very greedy and take advantage of their customer loyalty.

I upgraded from an M1 iPad Pro with 256 gigs of storage. I currently have M4 iPad Pro with one terabyte of storage and 16 GB of ram. I am a composer and I use notation programs like Staff pad and Dorico. With a full orchestral score, I had lags, timing issues, a general muddiness in the audio. It was obviously stressing the ram and the processing power. With the M4 iPad Pro, those issues are completely gone. Timing is precise, there is extreme clarity in the audio, and even the connection with my Bluetooth keyboard has much less latency. And we’re talking about software that is currently available now that does stress the current hardware of the iPad. Not everybody is a video editor gamer or 3-D modeler. It has made a big difference in my use case. And by the way, sample libraries, such as the ones in Staff pad take up a great deal of storage space and require a lot of ram as well . Thank you.

I went from an iPad Pro 12.9" 4th gen to an iPad Pro M4. I love the weight difference. My biggest issue with my 4th gen was the battery life. I use it everyday for taking notes at work and that battery was just not able to keep up.

I upgraded from the Pro 2020 and honestly I feel no difference 😅😅😅
Yeah the screen is great WHEN you watch something with HDR in YouTube… which is never in my case… that’s it. A12Z was already fast and snappy at everything I did, Netflix, YouTube, Procreate, and normal stuff…
I wish it was a bigger upgrade tbh

From the M1 iPad Pro to the M4 iPad Pro, there are several significant developments:

1. Size and Design: While the design is similar, the M4 iPad Pro has a slightly larger 13-inch display with smaller bezels.

2. Thickness: The M4 iPad Pro is much thinner with a thickness of 5.1mm, compared to the M1 which has a thickness of 6.4mm.

3. Weight: The M4 iPad Pro is lighter with a weight of 579 grams, while the M1 weighs 682 grams.

4. Display: The M4 iPad Pro introduces OLED screen technology for the first time for an Apple product, offering better contrast and sharper colors compared to the Mini LED screen on the M1.

5. Display Options: The M4 iPad Pro also includes an option for a nano-texture display, reducing reflections and smudging.

6. Keyboard: The Magic Keyboard also received an update, now made of aluminum with additional features like a function row.

7. Performance: The M4 chip offers improved performance, especially in terms of hardware-accelerated ray tracing for gaming and 3D modeling.

8. Camera: There are improvements to the camera, including adaptive true tone flash for document scanning and a landscape-oriented front-facing camera.

9. Battery Endurance: Despite having a smaller battery, the M4 iPad Pro offers better battery life thanks to a more efficient chipset.

10. Camera and Audio Features: The M4 iPad Pro offers enhancements to image processing and studio-quality microphones.

11. Future Potential: The possibility of future exclusive features for the M4, including software optimized for the latest generation chip.

12. Upgrade Recommendation: Brandon recommends upgrading to the M4 iPad Pro, especially to benefit from various enhancements including display, performance, and longer lifespan.

13. Value: Despite significant price differences, Brandon believes that the added value offered by the M4 iPad Pro justifies the additional cost.

14. Comparison with iPad Air and Previous Models: While there are other options such as the iPad Air 5 or iPad Air M2, Brandon suggests considering the M4 iPad Pro due to its significant value additions.

15. User Decision: Brandon has decided to sell their M1 iPad Pro and stick with the M4 iPad Pro after just a week of use, compared to the M2 which lasted about 3 months before reverting to the M1.

I have the 12.9 M1 1tb, that’s the 16gb of RAM version. For my usage it’s more than enough. If Apple doesn’t gonna mess up the performance with updates then this tablet will be good for 4-5 years more. No point to upgrade, save your money.

What’s the point of buying new iPad Pro for « future proof » if you’ll want the next best iPad ever in 2 or 3 years? The M1 iPad Pro is already future proof and I’m still perfectly happy with my 11 inch one even if the screen is still a LCD. I think the upgrade don’t worth the money especially for performance gap.

Not worth upgrading for minimal upgrades.
The display is not much of a difference between the M1 over the M4.

Tbh in my perspective I think it’s not worth it. It’s the same thing. M1 is still over kill for iPad. M1 is still better for like 4-5 years

As an M1 User, I get amazing speeds still with what I use it for. I use it for video editing on the go like LumaFusion. The M4 still doesn’t seem like a decent reason to upgrade. The device is missing one less microphone and even though it’s thinner, I fear that it’s easier to bend, after reviewing some videos on YouTube showing it’s already bent slightly out of the box. That why would somebody pay another thousand dollars plus a new Apple Pencil that’s also a pro model which cost probably way more than the OG Apple Pencil second GEN, it’s not worth it, there’s nothing innovative with this new device, there’s a better wide lens on the 12 9 inch generation five then the new M4 it makes no sense..

Considering this keyboard ridiculous price, Apple storage and memory prices, I’m not looking forward to replace my M1. Also, iPad OS is what I want to see getting better. Stage manager is still very bad, unless using a second monitor, but still you can’t even have two audio sources at the same time. This OS needs a lot of attention.

the m1 chip itself is so powerful, i do not understand why people would even upgrade.

Went from 2018 iPad 6th gen cheapo to 2022 iPad Pro M2 recently, much better jump! Works great, no issues. An iPad is an iPad is an iPad.

Right now I have the M4 iPad Pro 11. I hoping I will stay with it. I tend to try the iPad and then move back to the Mac. I am trying to look at it as not a replacement of my Mac, but as an in-between device from iPhone to Mac. Let see how long that lasts.

I made the upgrade from the M1 to the M4 and very glad i did, no more blooming on HDR content, the thinness makes it more enjoyable to use without the Magic Keyboard and the Magic Keyboard itself was a very nice upgrade. I doubt ill be upgrading again even 3 years from now
