The RX 7600 just launched, it's similar in performance to the RX 6650 XT while having newer technology, I would opt for the 7600 over a 6650 XT at a similar price.

The RTX 4070 is similar in performance to the RX 6800 XT, while having less VRAM, costing $100 more, and consuming less power. It does have NVidia features like DLSS and better Ray Tracing.

I've always found it more interesting to see what kind of performance can be squeezed out of old or modest hardware like this. As you said in the video, there are gobs of good games out there that would run great on this hardware. It's all about having the right mindset and expectations.

It's so refreshing to watch a youtuber who can articulate so well without relying on heavily edited footage

Nice to see 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th gen representation; I'm sure I am not the only one still using these older CPUs for gaming paired with 6000 series GPUs.

video's like this help fight both e-waste and marketing "obsolescence" hype. thanks for this kind of content.

I was initially a little resistant to your argument about having a PC that waits for and not you for it. But I've come to appreciate the concept of opportunity cost. Thanks tech!

I like the reviews of older systems. Especially useful for budget builds. I'm currently running an i7-4790 with a 1080 TI and 32 GB of DDR3 RAM. All were pretty cheap when I was able to get them, and the system runs everything I play. I'll probably upgrade in the next year, but nothing "new ".

I appreciate the point you make with these videos. It's funny, I'd shut down my desktop for a few days to exchange a few components (I'd pulled a few parts which went to another unit ahead of having the replacements - I don't know why I do that). During that time I used a computer whose core components ranged from 2015 to 2017, and had been on it's way to act as a media unit. Fairly bare boned and loaded with a handle of games, I was surprised to be reminded how quick it was. Sure, it wasn't loaded with all the programs and software of my daily driver; wasn't running a gazillion tasks in the background, but it was peppy and a joy to use.

This brings me back. My first build a few years after college was a 6600 and a 970....Good times.

The problem I have with these old systems is people selling these old parts for as much as it would cost to build something new. Well in the UK they are.

Still my favorite tech channel even through all these years, been watching for the last 7 years. I still remember that 750 ti video ya did. Thank you for your great service for pc builders

I bet this sustem would run most indie games at a stable 60fps as long as those indie games arent 3D games chasing graphic fidelity.

I love my new 6700XT, that combined with the 5800X is a nice upgrade compared to 1070Ti, before i had my 1070 i had an R9 390 from XFX

I recently upgraded from ryzen 3 3300x to ryzen 7 5800x3d. My 8 years old daughter will get her first pc for gaming with that procesor a cheap b550 and that rx 6600.

AMD FX 6300 (OC) of my daughter or my Ryzen 3 3300x (OC) are the perfect example of this video.

Regarding the Ryzen 5500 suggestion:
I would use a Ryzen 3600 instead. It performs nearly identical to the 5500, costs nearly the same, but has more cache and most importantly can run PCIe4. Which matters with cards like a 7600 or 4060 that only use 8 lanes.

I think you can do BCLK overclocking on this board. If so there is some power left on the table. I've had Z170-P D3 and was overcloking BCLK up to 165 MHz on G3900.

Great Video. Thanks for showing how newer games perform on these older hardware. At least we don't have to spend a lot of money to enjoy PC gaming in 2023. Your Videos and Time are most appreciated. Thank You.

I had the i5-6600k sitting at 4.5ghz for the last 7 years. Will be upgrading to a R7-7700 very soon.

My wife still has her 4790 and GTX 970 for 1080p World of Warcraft. I just took in a trade with a 9900k and a 2080 Suoer for her! Love the old hardware reviews
