I couldn’t find any diabetes in my pantry so I substituted it for heart disease, came out just as good 😋

I’ve been craving matcha creme brulee that I used to get while living in a different city. I hope to try this recipe one day, but with matcha!!!

Pro tip: you can also just use the broiler in your oven to caramelize the sugar quicker

For all my people in the comment section who get upset about him saying diabetes on the behalf of diabetics without being asked to, fear not! You're local type one diabetic is here.

Yes, type one and type two diabetics do NOT have diabetes because of sugar. That is a stereotype. For starters, type one and two are actually completely different diseases and are only called diabetes due to the fact that the both have to do with the endocrine system, the making (or not making) of insulin and regulation of blood sugar.

Type one diabetes (✨me✨) is caused by an autoimmune response from the body that attacks the beta cells in the pancreas, the cells that create insulin. There is not exactly a known reason for the onset of the response, YET, but hopefully we'll understand it better soon. It is also known as juvenile diabetes because you USUALLY get diagnosed in childhood or teen years. (I was diagnosed at 13) However, in rare cases type one has appeared in adulthood.

Type two is one i know a little less about as it doesn't pertain to my everyday struggle with T1D, so bare with me. Type two, is often a genetic trait. While genetics isn't the only way you get it, its highly likely that someone in your family had it and passed the chance of getting it to you. Type two diabetes is a disease in which the body creates insulin, however, it chooses to not use it effectively. Not all types twos are insulin dependent, in fact most aren't. Many of the type two diabetics ive met are relatively healthy and try to maintain their diabetes well.

If I left anything out and you are also diabetic (1 or 2) feel free to leave a comment adding to it. I hope this makes all the people in the comments who were concerned about misrepresentation happier.
