I'm an excellent whistler I knew how to whistle really good as a kid, I remember when my school shut down I had an option to go to another school or go to unpaid work, I choose unpaid work in a mechanic shop and the boss Gordon had the most beautiful whistle and I loved him doing it but all the lads used to grab tools when they hear him coming, so I also used to whistle and every 1 used to grab tools thinking I was him hahaha they used to say to me "you whistle like an old man" haha I was 14 at the time but I could do a pitch perfect whistle at 6 ish 8 ish, everybody tells me I'm an amazing whistler when a banger comes on and I'm daydreaming and whistleing to it 😊

I didn’t even know until I was about 19 years old that a huge chunk of the population can’t whistle. I still find it crazy. I always thought it was just a basic intuitive thing that everyone could do.

Thing is I can’t even describe how to do it either. It’s clearly not just making an “O” shape with your mouth and blowing because that just blows air out of your mouth. There’s a specific way to blow the air but I literally cannot explain what I’m doing differently. It’s so strange.

I’ve been sitting here switching between blowing normally and whistling and I genuinely cannot figure out what I’m doing differently, yet I intuitively know how to do it. It’s not like I even know what I’m doing either, as if my tongue is in a specific position or something and I’m just struggling to describe the position of it. I actually DON’T KNOW what it is that I’m doing in order to whistle. I just… know I CAN switch?
