Thanks! It helps me a lot as teacher. I know now how to teach this certain lesson to my learners.

Would they give a real root and ask to find the other roots?
if yes, then how would you do it?

You could in theory but I would not encourage it, especially if some roots are complex numbers.

Can you factorized them if the question never give any roots?

may i ask whether the root will be provided or not ?

Автор

Yeah they always are for quartics, but sometimes they give cubics with no roots provided

Can a quartic have only 1 real root just touching the x axis? If so, what would the 3 complex roots look like? And is there a cubic with 3 complex roots?

Hi ! How would one proceed if none of the roots are provided ?

What does the i in the 4-2i stand for?

Seems it would be easier to use the fact that sum of all roots=-b/a and product of all roots=e/a

Sorry, I am confused by your question.
