My brain hates me right now! I finally got a doctor to agree to do an assessment for adhd and hopefully that will help.
Time and I have a rocky relationship so instead of a time I tell myself I will just… sometimes I only do that small task others I get into a grove and get productive. I have things going in almost every room in the house! It would really be great if I finished them before going off to do something completely different!

loved the video! I got into historical costuming as my latest of many adhd induced hobbies, and I really love it. I was loving it, but I started getting stuck when it came to finishing projects and doing the more tedious or repetitive parts of sewing. I came across your video and wanted to say that your advice helped me, my squirrel brain is gonna start looking for more ways to make those parts of sewing more interesting. When I struggle to even pick up a needle or clear my desk so I can resume (or start) a project, I’m also going to try and remember to give myself a short timer and then do your sticky note method!
I love sewing, but the ADHD brain sometimes makes it hard for me to do something I enjoy, especially if it’s something more complicated and time consuming, but your tips were great and I think they’ll be pretty helpful if I can remind myself of some of them next time I hit a rough patch with my adhd. Thank you again, love your videos!

Showing my Goal Support Chat my progress helps me to stay motivated when my brain tries to CPSTD me out of it by rattling off all the ways my family would not approve, or what they’d say behind my back.

Connecting with my Adventuring Party helps me vanquish mine enemy Normativity.

Puppies on espresso! I love the passion you’re bringing to this. I can practically see Nanny Ogg’s mob with pitchforks and torches ready to take on the invisible arbiters of “the right way”! I read a meme that you should decide the negative voice in your head belongs to a disliked politician, because it makes it easier to believe what it’s saying is untrue.

Yes timers, on the telephone are great for tidying up the sewing room for squirrel brains. Also, I’m loving the bag making because the projects( for example, clam up bags) are done quickly and I feel successful!

During my almost 2 years of teaching middle school FACS online during the pandemic, I began class by saying, "Hello, my lovelies!" I didn't realize until just now that I must have subconsciously copied your opening line. "Imitation is the highest form of flattery." I had a few who thought I was weird, but mostly it was well-received. For many years, I would start classes with "Hello, ladies and gents." But I think saying "Hello, my lovelies, " is a way to show "welcome" without using any kind of gender binary or identity exclusion. Thank you for the inspiration.
(Btw, ADHD wasn't a "thing" when I was growing up in the 60s and 70s. I wasn't diagnosed until I was in my mid-50s.)

Hey Althea, I just wanted to say that I'm so happy the algorithm recommended your channel! I would say sewing is a great hobby for ADHD because each time you finish a garment you get that sweet sweet dopamine, and then you get to a new project so it's definitely not boring! At least it's how I see it hehe

Looking forward to catch up with all the other videos!

Whelp! tomorrow Ill be confined to my sewing room for 4 consecutive hours due to workers in my house. I’m kind of using this as an experiment to see if i can force start the process. Wish me luck!

I finally got an appointment with the Behavioral Health folks to get an assessment to see if I have ADD or ADHD or some other mood disorder. It's coming up on Sep 16th. I'm glad for it, but I'm a bit anxious about it, too. Plus I had a bit of a meltdown Friday at the senior program I go to because one of the other clients and one of the staff got into a shouting match and the tension got me so upset I started crying. Though it's possible my lack of proper sleep contributed to the meltdown. I averaged between 4 and 5 hours a night. Not good. I was labeled a "daydreamer" in First Grade because the diagnosis for the attention disorders didn't exist back in 1960. Hopefully the doctor will help me get sorted. My primary suggested Welbutrin but we decided to see the psych doctor before making that decision. We shall see what happens.

Thank you so so so much for this!!! For me doing my projects sitting on the floor seems to help. I have more room to spread out the necessary stuff and also to move around while I sew. I know that depends on mobility but it works for me! I’d struggle to sit properly in a chair to save my life, I’m too hyperactive even as an adult 🤷🏼‍♀️

You use my language! Headology and feck and bog troll versus hedgewitch, you make so much more sense. I'm going to have to come back to this after I get this excite out of my system at finding you.
