A beautiful example to explain the connection between the direction of the current in a wire and the way which the electromagnetic force turns to. The current creates the electromagnetic force, that’s appearing in a circle, that is around the wire. Meaning, that in a 2 D view from above the dot that represents the center of the circle is that wire, that perpendicular to that plane. The direction of the rotation force, is depends on that direction of the current. If it travels downwards the force is clockwise. If it travels upwards, the force is counter clockwise. By watching the video and knowing the direction of the spinning coins, which is counter clockwise, I can understand that the current travel upwards. It’s also Aline with the fact, that the direction of the current is from the lower potential to the higher potential. The plus and minus sins on the battery is actually another way to make the same conclusion.

My only question is: where do you find pennies that stick to a magnet?

Copper is notoriously non-magnetic...

If anybody's wondering, these aren't entirely made of copper, but a copper alloy. That's why they're magnetic.
