Not 2 by 4s those are 4 by 4s..You really need 4 by 4s or 6 by 6s because of the wind a 2 by 4 won't work..Just stating that incase anyone wants to try a sun sail..They are awesome I use 3.

The pool umbrellas are a great idea! Dur why didn't I think of that, I have a few old faded ones in the garage I was going to throw out!! Upcycle confirmed!! 😁

I bought several painters drop clothes. Hung them over our 20x30 garden here in central Texas. We have an abundance of trees on both sides of our home but, our back yard gets the evening sun, so we bought shade sails to cover part of our yard going to the covered porch (it helps a lot) to keep the sun from coming in as it's going down. It's been in the 100's for over 6 weeks now, sweltering heat. Also busy keeping the chickens comfortable in this almost desert climate.
Great video, love learning something new. Thank you

We have raised beds with arched cattle panels and put shade cloth over those. It's working great. By the way we got our shade cloths at Harbor Freight really cheap.

Wow! Ty for these tips! I'm in south Texas and it's hot here!! 🔥 how did you make the metal frame?

You could also make a two layer bag instead of just the pillowcase for hydrogel. Use the pillowcase for the inside and add a burlap outer layer instead of just the mulch idea. It should provide instant camouflage to your home-made hydrogel bag. Thanks, as usual, for your gardening tips!

Greetings, Dan, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸
We are dealing with the same heat, but we do get far more rainfall. I like your idea of adding umbrellas that fold down since we have more Windstorms.
As always, great advice 👍

This is excellent, thanks very much! We’re coming into hot, dry weather and then summer here in Queensland and the sun can be really fierce. Will definitely give the burlap ago :))

Dan, I totally appreciate the time you put into these videos. This is yet another one jam-packed from start to finish, with much needed info. You are my go-to channel for anything plant, gardening, with some humor and much needed spiritual enlightenment when we need it, which is always. Bless Your Heart, Brother, Alice too. Love seeing both of your smiling faces. Please give her a (Hug) from Nance the Nor Cali Gal. I've been wearing wet clothes to stay cooler in this triple digit weather. Can I wear one of those self-watering rings the citrus tree wears? :D I know, I know, but it does give me a wild idea or two. I'm full of them.

Do you have any baskets un-used laying around? Could attach a basket on top of one those wood posts and see if you can get a Mourning Dove or some other bird to use to nest in.
