He sacrificed him self becases…. He didn’t save the other people and the workers with him were the ones who helped the people get on the boats so the people and the titanic could go straight back home safety but Edward John Smith was a true captain because he died and his boat sinked so like he stayed in his titanic this is sad😢😢😢😢

For me, Captain Edward John Smith willingly doomed himself to stay at the Titanic's wheel until all the passengers he failed to provide safe passage to America returned to the ship. For 97 years, he stayed there until Eliza Dean's death in 2009. He would then be allowed to ferry them into Heaven where they belong, fulfilling his duty as the ship's Captain and earning his rest. That's the duty of a good captain: the last one to leave the ship and the one duty-bond to go down with it.

He actually wasnt in the wheelhouse when the bridge went under but just imagine hes not in there its just the creaking and the thats what it wouldeve looked like..
