Notice the peers they use, if they are smart, are the more professional ones to try and erode the basis for having told them no. Often times they will "front end" such a request. Hey Officer Smith lets us do XYZ, do you mind? That is the point where they already claimed it is an on going practice, another professional peer of yours accepts it, so who are you to say no? What Officer Smith actually does or does not do often is spin or out right lying about it...
