It is a widely circulated claim that Calvinism has Manichaean influences, and this is most certainly true. It is not a coincidence that the first theologian in church history to advocate unconditional election was also a former Manichaean, which were strongly determinist. However, this video shows the actual evidences themselves, demonstrating from ancient sources that the Gnostics did indeed teach a form of TULIP. Thus, showing that Calvinism has unorthodox origins within the Manichees.

We do affirm Unconditional Election and also Total Inability but due to our Radical Dualism we lack the same notion of Divine Sovereignty that Calvinists and Augustinians have. This makes our belief in predestination less opposed to belief in the omnibenevolence of God. For us God is forced by the very real threat and power of evil towards the wise, judicious and hence unequal disposing of His grace.
