chapter 1 - restarting routines! 🌱🪿

-I did not realize how powerful processing change is PRIOR to the change. I feel so much more able to manage the change having processed it arrival!

-I like to ask “how does this support future Hayley” when I am doing things and sometimes just laying out clothes can make the world of a difference!

What other steps would you have taken? ✨

I've been really looking forward to getting my routines back. Been working towards my usual sleep/wake routine (planned). I also had the possibility to work from home this week, so I did - and gave myself extra time in the morning to make it cosy and something to look forward to. In addition I've been taking a midday break to go for a long walk and get some daylight.
All in all a slow progression towards normal with plenty of rewards along the way

I love this. I have adhd and severe depression and it’s always hard getting back into it. It’s 6 am and I haven’t slept. Anyways I always write notes in my journal like “give grace but don’t sit to long” reminding myself that I do deserve grace but many things are simple and take 15 minutes to do. I find it helps because I see so many little tasks that it’s just overwhelming and I sit in my bed stressed.

Would love a video on how to achieve this when your ADHD is being really bad & *everything* requires so much effort. Because, yes, preparing a routine & setting stuff up the night before is sooo helpful, but my ADHD just makes any kind of preparation so difficult. It's a vicious circle at times 😕

Anything breaks my routine (traveling, holidays, missing a day) and I find it incredible hard to get back on track. Sometimes I get so frustrated that, there are people that will never have to write down, "brush your teeth" in order to: remember it needs to be done and take make sure it was done.

Wtf I didn’t understand why I couldn’t handle anything after the holidays/travelling and trying to get back into my routine. The last few days have been so rough, but I feel a little less crazy. Thank you!

Structured mornings really do make all the difference! Working out early and eating is such a big help. I wont go to this gym for sensory and anxiety reasons, but if anyone’s like me, fitness games can be a huge help! There's a few on Nintendo switch but I gravitate towards silly quick workouts like the Hatsune Miku fitness game loool (not an ad). Plus lots of lists!!

I’m sick right now and discouraged because I am autistic with ADHD and I was doing SO WELL at keeping up routines and now I’ve forgotten How because I’ve been in bed for almost a full week. 😢

Thank you, I'm trying to get into healthier routines this new year... I wasn't lucky enough to have *any* time off for the holidays beyond my normal days off in a week... I want to get into healthier routines as my new years resolution this year...

I find sleep wake routine tricky. I've been reading that neurodivergent people often don't have a traditional melatonin curve but more of a flatter line, which can make things trickier?

I think I do that habitually. I didn't used to think about upcoming changes and then was left completely and totally unprepared for said change one too many times.
