The fact even the elderly woman still remembers just goes to show how it leaves a mark on you forever even after you stop having it 💀

I got my period at 9 and let me tell you, they don’t prepare you for this shit until you’re 12💀

I was 6-7 (in first grade)

Before anyone asks if I'm dying. No. I just have something called PCOS so unfortunately I started everything early. And I remember in first grade I pulled a pad out of my backpack and a boy saw me and screamed to the entire class that I wear diapers and I almost started crying and tried to tell him it is a pad and tried explaining it and he just yelled "no that's a diaper you wear diapers"

I just love the fact that every girl out there is experiencing the same thing as a different girl. Makes us girls stick together

I was 8 I remember my teacher sitting down and explaining it all. As my mum and sisters never bothered 😢. Mrs Seale was awesome and fave so much support. On the plus side I used it as an excuse to get out of swimming classes

I'm so jealous of the girls who got to 15 before their first periods (assuming that didn't come along with health issues). I got mine at 10 and it felt like giving up my childhood before I'd even gotten out of elementary school.

I love how they all didn’t look disgusted and took it in a chill way. We need more voices to help girls with they’re periods ❤

I got mine at 10. I remember at 11 when all the other girls were gossiping about who got their period and talking about how disgusting they were because of it. I already was uncomfortable, but they made me even more anxious about others knowing.

As an Indian girl, I got it when I was 10. My mum was really worried and told me not to tell anyone. Most importantly my grandma or anyone from our family. She told me that only ur dad and brother is supposed to know this. Today, I have a daughter of my own who got it at the age of 9. When I told my mother this, she told me not to tell anyone. But I did not listen to her cause I do not feel ashamed of my daughter getting her periods at a young age. It happens to all girls, so we should just get over it and not make a big deal out of it. ( also my mother told her family and my father’s family that I got it at the age of 13 ).

Getting your period before age nine is called precocious (early) puberty

Most girls start their periods when they're about 12, but they can start as early as 8, so it's important to talk to girls from an early age to make sure they're prepared. Respond to questions or opportunities as they arise and do not be embarrassed.

What age would you think is the best to tell them and some kids can become a lil bit traumatised by a period

I was also 9 then but was turning 10 in less a week. It was quite tough being the first one to get my period in my grade. Pretty clumsy in dealing with leaks and often got teased by the boys. But still glad that my girl classmates were always willing to help and defend me despite not getting their period yet.
