I was born in the early sixties in Belfast (still live here of course). Looking forward to watching it, but can't quite understand why he called the child 'Buddy'. Don't think I ever heard of anyone called Buddy when I was growing up in Belfast. lol. It was never a common name here at all, so comes across as a bit unrealistic. Don't know why he didn't name the young lad a more common name of the times.

This film I went to see it twice, I ordered it on DVD I just can't get enough of the film, at least u can understand what it is all about not like some of the films I went to see awhile back I couldn't make head nor tail of them

The kids were all perfectly cast, the casting agent aught to earn praise for that as well as them - The best part of the film, by far. I thought the adult acting was just OK, I'm sorry to say. I'm biased about Judy Dench and Ciaran (I can't spell) so, I can't really comment. I'd like whatever they did. I think it was such a different kind of conflict film. It is more about the love that endures, and that really is a relatable concept for many backgrounds. I noticed that for once - the opportunistic nature of the political thugs was shown and not glossed over as some sort of martyr anime character for kids to latch onto. At the same time, there's this sort of charm and brightness in the film that contrasts the difficult subjects in conflict, and I thought that was clever and rarely done.
