Which stud shape is the best on your football boots, and how do you choose between them? In today's video, JayMike talks you through the differences between conical and bladed studs on your football boots to help you decide which stud shape you should go for when you buy new football boots. Here, JayMike will also go over why conical or rounded studs are great for comfort and rotational movements, whereas the bladed studs on speed boots are often more aggressive and better for acceleration and responsive movements - AND, he will also tell you why bladed studs on artificial grass or turf is a bad idea. So if you are in doubt about which stud shape to choose on your new football boots, this video is a great place to start.

While my son was dribbling with bladed studs he got really injured and was in hospital for 2 weeks. This video really helped me choose.

As a middle fielder I suggest choosing a grippy thick quality shoes with conical studs is the best because as a middle fielder you need to play the passes and start attack’s and also you need to rotate and pivot a lot. Conical studs are amazing for rotation.

I tore my acl and both meniscus due to vapour 15 blades. I have made the switch to Mizuno morelia Neo 3s in the FG conical pattern and I stress all who read this do the same. It can prevent injury and help boost your career. They actually feel better to play in also

Even with the high risk factor I'd prefer blades. The rounded out studs are good for pivots and dribbling but I use speed boots in a more latteral kind of style to fully maximise the direction of those V shaped studs and to avoid injury. It's also good forplanting into the ground for a good shot since sometimes you can accidentally trivela cuz of the grip.

I play with mercurial superfly 7 and I’ve got my ankle twisted several times but there is a thing i love the most about it which is speed.

i injured my ankle quite badly (i was out for 2 months) because of the aggressive stud pattern on my speedflows and i did not realize before this video that the stud pattern is a reason why. this has opened my eyes and helped me find something to consider when buying my next pair of boots

I play in sunday league and my home field is AG, while everyone else in the area has natural grass so I went with Puma Future 1.3 FG/AG thinking they will be fine for both surfaces. I gotta say despite half-rounded studs these are not so great for AG. After just one home game my knees were very fatigued and I felt my tendons. I ended up ordering Puma Ultras MG for home games and will use Future FG for away games. It's just not worth risking injury.

God if I had seen this before. Today I actually felt it. I'm not a pro, but I used some older boots of mine, which were nike mercurials, meaning they have blade studs. I was playing for an university tryout before exams, like a simulation, on a below average pitch. After not even 30-40 sec my knee cracked, went off, tried to come back 2 more times and I was just done. It cracked one more time, harder, teachers actually heard it from like 15m away. I am ok now, I dont think its a bad injury. I was kind of lucky and pretty stupid to try coming back. I was kinda thinking of Ronaldo at Euro. Thats it. Never wearing them again, not recomanding them ever again. Very good and important video for younger players! Really apreciating it

true about what you said about those aggressive studs for wingers, its perfect for cutting edge and if you have a better control in dribbling it will deliver you to a next level, i have used the predators and as i play on the wings on hard ground its quite good but takes away your ankles and knees pretty bad if you do too much contextual dribbling and tracking back, i'd definitely try the conical ones if those comes with proper leather, hoping to get one of those base phantoms' to start with, needs proper cushioning too else its not worth it you pay a hefty price.

For an amateur player I feel like injury prevention should be your absolute biggest criterium when looking for new boots, especially for kids

It's not depends it's speed or comport able if it's depends of performance but my side to say speed because speed boost are very nice for everyone comport only give you comfortable to play but speed boost give speed, movement, dribbling, etc😊❤

It’s best to get football boots in outlets (if your in UK) since it has a bit of price reduction and also there’s also cheap shoes at the side on the shelf like I got my adidas predator accuracy .4 for about 25 pounds and an accuracy .3 for 39 pounds there was also a pure white one only about same price as predator accuracy .4 so check it out
