Absolutely love how they filmed this! Can't explain it, but reminded me of Kubrick. Genius!

This recording was free on his 25th death day. I watched it and realized that the picture \ sound inconsistency at the final bars of the symphony is still there and seems no one in Unitel bothers to fix it (Do they even realize it?).

In 1994 I recorded the same video from a TV broadcast to my video cassette player (beta) and there it was right. The ending was a frantic dance of Karajan in front of the orchestra.

Here, and also on the DVD release of these recordings, that feeling is missing due to this delay between sound and video. It is only at the last half or less minute of the video but it is enough to spoil one of the best recording (I prefer this recording to all his sound recordings for the same work) of these exciting pages of music history.

After Furtwangler and Karajan, BPO has not been sounded like BPO

This is the best symphonic movement Brahms composed. The only movement can reach out to Bruckner. But of course it never reach out to Bruckner level.

Genius not confined to any group or nation. Personal opinion: This production directed, esp by Karajan, represents agreeable inspiring, , German natl character in one of the best unmistaken amplified, distinct, precise, direct forward mvt music, as opposed to others, and other nationality productions of more softer blending. Depends on dif pref of the other person?

Is it just me or brass is reinforced? For example, 4 trumpets and 5 trombones (AATTB)? If anyone knows why, please explain.
