Could do 1700/2000 which is 850/1000 which is also 85/100 and the percent difference from 100 is your answer. (15/100) or 0.15)

In a structured step by step method; [(final value - initial value)/initial value] × 100. Hence [(1700-2000)/2000] x 100 = -15%. It's negative value hence it's a percentage decrease.

you are a lifesaver!! I'm currently studying for my math midterm and I can't tell you how much I thank you!

You could do this:10% equals 200 so that means 5% is equal to 100 so add 10% + 5% and you get 15%.

For this particular case, I just multiplied 20 and 17 by 5, which is 100 and 85. The difference was 15 so

My favourite method is “New/old-1”
Meaning that you take the new prize divided by the old one and then deduct one from that outcome.
If the answer is negative, the prize has been lowered, if it’s positive, it has been raised.

Always do new divided by old. Even if it’s a increase and then you add a “-1” afterwards to give you the exact increase or decrease. In this case 1700/2000 - 1 = (-0.15) which means it’s a reduction when there’s a “-“ in front of the multiplicator.

Very Simple Method.

Dicreased Amount is ₹300

In 2000 - 10% = 200
5% = 100

15% = 300

Well, in this case I would simplify it first, like this:
17/20=0.85 (I have cut all the zeros)
And since you want to know the decreased % you just need to see how much you need to 100%, which is 15% (100-85)

Another way to look at it is how much stock is left compared to what you had which is 1700/2000 which is 85percent therefore you lost 15percent. Also when doing your method you should have got a negative answer to show that it’s decreasing.

2000 - 1700 = 300
1000 - 700 = 300 (30%)
2000 is basically 2 x 1000 so 30 divided by 2 is 15 works in simple times

Tysm my Sats are tmr and this rlly helped

I'll consider that double of 1000 then 30% of 1000 is 700 so for 2000 it's 30/2 =15%

Heh... You know what I used to do? 1700÷2000 which gives you 0.85 or 85%. The. I would subtract 85% from 100% which gives you 15%

Or we can just:
300/2000, cut the zeroes,
= 3/20, we can multiply it by 100 to get the percentage,
= 300/20
= 30/2 =15
= 15%

If I want to mental this it's just 10% of 2000 is 200 then half of that is 100 which is 5%. So difference is 300 so just multiply 5% by 3.
