I tied a brick to my back hose (which I use vaccum hoses to back wash more sturdier than the blue backwash hoses) I put other end of hose in front to drain in front yard and then I turn on my pump and I use the end of hose and put where the water shoots out to circulate the water in pool the return, I held the end of hose with brick tied on it and filled the hose with water then when full I drop the brick gently in water and turned off pump and went and saw water was coming out pretty fast. I noticed the water came out about 4 inches every hour so was pretty quick. I have a 18’ round. Also I tape a hand towel around the brick so didn’t tear the liner if it is still good as not to ruin it.
