Thanks for another good video, Grant. I love this lens and have mine on my GX9 right now sitting beside me in the Newark terminal as I’m watching YouTube as I wait for a connecting flight. 😊 It’s a powerhouse and a great value for the money.

For the price, can’t beat it. Also easy to use for manual focusing on the GX-9. Light, smooth, simple.

2 of these... Returned both, unsharp, poor focus... Replaced with Olympus 17mm f1.8... stunning detail and low light street beast..❤

I had this for my GH4 a good few years back. It was a good lens and for my client gigs it was great. I eventually did move onto the Lumix 20mm for my travel photography and moved onto the S5 for my professional video work. Great vid!

Great channel, I picked two of these up years ago for $99 and its my favorite head shot lens on my GX9 and Olly EM1 mkii, absolutely stunning lens. Great video.

Let's be honest, the mighty APS-C format has never replaced the cheap, fast 'normal' lenses of the film era. No cheap digital 35 mm f/1.7 that I know of. This lens is one of the reasons for which I grabbed my GX9 in a double lens kit, the other one being the Panasonic 12-32 mm. Thanks for another spot-on video!

About the focus problem some people were talking about, google for lumix 25mm 1.7 focus shift. It occurs when you stop down the aperture. I'd rather buy the olympus version.

I've got that lens and the Olympus 25mm 1.8, both are fantastic!

It is not nasty. It is cheap and underrated lens 😃. Thank you for another great video.

The problem with this lens (every single one) is that is suffers form a pronounced Focus Shifting between F2.8 an F4 included.
As any camera always focusses with the lens wide open, and then closes it down to the intended value for taking the picture, this means that, when shooting between 2.8 and 4.0 the lens can be slightly out of focus, which is noticeable looking at eye sharpness and other small detail in the image.
It's cheap but that's the value of the lens. I had it and I MUCH prefer Panasonic 20mm 1.7 or the Olympus 25mm F 1.8 which are more expensive, but much more refined lenses

LOL have you seen the old Canon EF50mm f/1.8 version 1? AKA the plastic fantastic - I broke three of them with acts that should not be destructive - dropping it on grass, putting on a filter, , camera tilting over and lens "hitting" the table... but have purchase a replacement EVERY time as it's still light, cheap and damn good optically

I got one of these little lovelies just last week. It’s great, just be sure to set up your AF ‘preferences’ properly. I’m using Aperture Priority and it seems to be great. I don’t shoot video so the focus shift thing isn’t an issue. Thanks for the vid✌️🌻

It replaced my Olympus 25, f 1.8 since I prefer a softer image for portraits.

You might want to change the thumbnail from M34 to M43. It looks almost the same but ....

I have this lens on my Olympus E-M1 and love it. However, I do seem to use either the 19mm (40mm) Sigma art lens, or the M.Zuiko 45mm (90mm) more as I prefer those focal lengths. Probably because they're the lengths I use on my full frame Nikons, (40mm & 90mm).

I have this lens and it is great, hours well on my OM-5.
I have upgraded to an Olympus 25mm f1.2 Pro but I still use the Lumix.
The f1.2 is better and I use it for my serious photography. However, if I am going out with my family to a restaurant and don't want to take a big-ass lens, I take the Lumix.
