Maybe it's because I'm American but I'm always surprised when Joel doesn't know a song I've heard 1000 times

Fun fact: the reason why the quality of the videos for the early ones are fluctuating is because back then, most things WERE actually shot in really high quality, it's just that over time the quality has degraded. Some videos have better restoration or have survived better than others. Also, stuff like flickering, dirt and sped-up footage were all either accidental artifacts or the footage simply being played at the wrong speed. Just some film history, I'm no expert but I find it pretty interesting

mid/late 60's to mid 70's is the peak of groundbreaking revolutionary music, but 80's and 90's will always have my heart

The video quality is so good for Some Enchanted Evening (1949) because that was copied over from film, which being an analogue medium, has near infinite image quality.

Two videos in a row where you thought A-Ha was Danish, looked them up, and found them to be Norwegian

Thank you for addressing the Monkees and the claim that they are a "fake band." You're right in saying that during part of the show others played the instruments, but during the last part of the show they were actually able to convince the studio to let them play themselves (2 of them were already musicians, and the other 2 learned how so that they could tour and do concerts authentically). It should also be noted the singing was always done by them.

The fact that some of these songs, feel so young, but are already so old. Can't believe the time goes so fast.

70’s and 80’s I are definitely the best decades for rock

It's scarier how many of those old songs from the 20's (!!) are still amazing. Imagine modern production and instrumentation with those songs

I'm enjoying Joel's new positive, funny, and happier vibes from his 2024 videos. He seems more appreciative and improved in self-confidence

Steve Perry is completely underappreciated. He's got an amazing voice, and always came across as so humble in interviews. I really hope the renewed popularity of "Don't Stop Believin'" did some good things for him.

I’ll never stop being surprised by how popular and different My Heart Will Go On is compared to the rest of the market at that time, the late 90s is known for breakthrough pop music and there’s Celine power belting away! 😅

Yes, different lip pressure will produce different pitches. Higher pitch = more pressure, lower pitch = less pressure 👍
