After a fresh paint job, my Porsche Boxster needed something to protect it from the elements. Wax or Ceramic Coating? I went with Ceramic since detailing my car is something I don't personally love. If that's your thing, you might want to consider wax.

I've always heard horror stories about the ceramic coating process for newbies, so I went to Shawn over at Street Legends to have him show me how to do it. It's a long video, but I think he did an excellent job at covering all the steps required if you want to DIY. Please give Shawn a follow in Instagram @StreetLegendsNC.

Here is the consumer ceramic coating product that has been recommended to me:

I have watched a few videos to learn how to apply a ceramic coating. Pan the Organizer has been my favorite. But this video has taught me things that none of them have mentioned.

1) lift your car. Man, what a great idea to really make sure your car is clean and for easier access to the bottom

2) wash your car after Polishing

3) make sure your car is dry. No, really dry. Like blow dry your car. Smart!

4) One microfiber towel is not enough. Use many. I felt I was doing it wrong the last time I polished my car because I couldn't clean off the polish with one towel. I didn't know that you go through them so quickly.

Such a great video! Just purchased a 1998 Boxster in Zenith blue that has sat unloved for the last year. Going to be a bit of a project but thanks to all your videos, it's way less daunting. You and I have similar mechanic styles (never easy) and I appreciate that you leave all those moments in your videos.

I didn't know they were close to us. We live in Lincolnton about an hour and thirty minutes away. We have a 99 Boxster and want to add many of the things you've done. Love the videos!

WOW looks amazing! Out of curiosity, how long would it last and would you need to apply anything in-between as a "booster"?
