How to Shuffle Tarot and Oracle Cards

After a public read or an intense lesson with my students, I clear my decks before storage. It is a nice ritual to end the session. The next time I use the deck, I use the hurricane method to wake up both the deck and my intuition. Once the deck feels awake and ready, I can gather the cards and shuffle how ever seems appropriate.

Having watched and enjoyed many of your videos. Also, as an absolute newbie, am very drawn to your free form movie scene approach, driven by intuition. What I am struggling with is not knowing why you sometimes use a 4 card spread, sometimes 5 card and sometimes 4 or 5 with a separate layer of 1 or 2 cards, I would be very interested in understanding your approach/thinking when approaching this. Is there learned structure to your approach or is it just intuition driven?

I do the riffle only by common playing cards, which I can replace at any time. I avoid the riffle because the cards bend (even if done gently and even if you mix them in opposite direction). For me the tarot and oracle decks are artwork and I treat them well :-). But I like to see you shuffle. Professional shuffling is real prestidigitation! I have the borderless deviant moon deck, and i have pretty small hands. what I found that works for me is riffle shuffling them (kind of like letting them just fall in place so they don't get ruined) sideways followed by an overhand shuffle from the short side of the card, and then cutting. or if i want a really good shuffle, i pull out card by card into groups of 7 and put the deck back together in random order. and rinse and repeat all over again.

Wow! I love this vid. I have several cards that are small or just right for my hands, but the recent cards in my possession are the Angel Tarot Cards that I'm familiarizing myself with. The issue I have with these cards is that I have very small hands and even attempting your simplest technique is a difficult task. I find myself placing the cards upright in the box and doing the "overhand" method that way. So far, so good...but, now I need to know when to stop shuffling! How do you know when to stop shuffling? Thank you so much for this vid! It has helped a great deal!!
