When I type snort -W on my command prompt no interfaces show up. Why might that be?

I get cascading errors in the rules file for the pre-defined default alerts, every one that is un-commen
ted by default

I downloaded the free community rule and I tried opening the rules file with WinZip but it says it cant open the file. How else can I format the rules without purhasing the subscription? Or is paying for the rules the only way to get them?

When i use snort -W it does not show any interface. Please guide me. I installed it on window 7 which is VMware machine, ip of window 7 192, 168.72.130 which i added as home ip net. which ip should be add Host or Vm?

Who ever needs help with the error that you get that says unable to open address file on snort whitelist rules, lemme know. It took me a while to figure out.
