Do fingertip push-ups as well. Especially if you a big guy. Takes your grip strength to a whole other level.

I didn't come looking for this, but it was really good. Love the fact that it was all over in under five minutes without any padding.

About 20 years ago, My dad, in his mid-50's, injured his shoulder wrestling with an inmate in the county jail when he was a correctional officer. The nerve damage in his should medically retired him earlier than when he would've stopped working. I took him to some of his doctor appointments when they would do some therapy and check progress. The doctor had him test his grip strength on a tester like you have.. he maxxed it out with his good hand and almost maxxed it out with the "bad" hand on the arm with the shoulder damage. That old doctor was STUNNED. He had never seen anyone max the device and he said he had even treated several bodybuilders. My dad had freaky, beefy hands. I sure was proud of my old man that day. RIP Pops

Great job man!
Doubling your grip in 8 weeks is incredible.
It's taken me 1 year to increase mine by 45lbs.

This isn’t practical for everyone, but if your gym has a rock climbing wall, using that will for sure boost your grip strength to new levels. It’s also great for shoulder mobility and stretching.

A lot of what you did is similar to what I do for Arm wrestling. Did jujitsu and Catch 30 years ago for a couple years, then I rolled every 5 years or so! So I'm terrible now. But at least my grip strength is good from arm wrestling the last 3 1/2 years. Funny story; I'm a home health nurse. One of the things I have my patients do for their assessment is to squeeze my fingers. This 90 year old lady surprised the heck out of me one day when she squeezed my fingers as hard as a young male power lifter! In amazement I asked her what she had done in her life. In a shaky old lady voice she said; " I milked cows for forty years!" True story. Shows what repetitive daily training can do for you.

The grip strength methods i use ive developed throughout my whole life. I shook hands with an old man when i was 16 and his grip was so intense. Ide never felt anything like it before. Now i trained jujutsu(judo) at the time. I trained grip then also. But his strength was overwhelming. I trippled my efforts after that day. I teach people how to develop ankles, calves, grip, neck. I help them fill in the weak gaps.

As someone else who's appreciated grip for a long time may I also suggest finger tip pushups. Get to where you can push into the air and land on the back of your wrists, push of back of wrists into air and land on finger tips again. You can also use less fingers at a time, or arms, finger punch sand, rice, dirt to get to the weed's roots when your gardening. I'd recommend also training with various size sledge hammers like you were that iron pole, and try bending unbendable things in half for long strong holds. For the pinch grip a like pinching two metal plates together as well, start with a 10 and a 25 lb plt, work you way up to two 25s and you'll be doing quite well.
So there is also this connection your brain makes when you grip something with a lot of strength that helps the rest of the body to be a little stronger as well. So it stands to reason that it should be the same with our feet, I like to be barefoot but even in shoes you can grip your toes into the shoe or ground with some force. So don't forget to train those calves hard too, stand on your toes like a ballerina and so forth. Fingers and toes should be strong and you will be a strong fighter, learn to use your toes grip and legs to draw power form the ground and you will be a good fighter, learn to use your hips for every movement and you will be a great fighter.

Gi, rope, rock climbig holds, dead hang. You picked all the best exercises!

Gym equipment is designed for optimal grip. Good when you're working on your deadlifts, but by design not as challenging for your grip strength.
But you can wrap a towel round the bar and grip around that. Much closer to gripping somebody's wrist.

The secret in order to double your grip strength is to start out weak.

Funny but true, I have small hands and it hurts my deadlift for powerlifting. I actually draped a karate gi around a bar with a little weight, starting with 135, and pinch gripped it to lift it off the ground. It is extremely painful because of the leveraged on the tips of the fingers, but within 2-3 workouts my nervous system desensitized me to that pain that made me want to let go, and it added a good 20-30 pounds to my top deadlift that I could hold on to.

Man, this was a super informative and well put together video.

Just the information I needed with no BS just to make the video longer than it needs to be.

Thankyou, sir.

I've always had naturally gifted lumbricles, but this gi pull definitely stretches my hand in new ways. bravo

Sweet stuff. Increasing grip strength is vital in many ways other than to grab but adds layers to your hand to be able to perform much more quickly and efficiently with less effort involved as well as better protected from strain or stress during execution

Hey! As a grip training connoisseur I really enjoyed this video. Can you also do a video on tendon health for grapplers? Thanks!
