Nice tutorial! Though a very big note here: SDI Tool is a bit outdated and, according to some people, it is probably maintained by untrustworthy sources, so it may even have malware

It is recommended to use the open source alternative SDIO (Snappy Driver Installer Origin) instead. The program should print a welcome screen letting you select between downloading the whole shebang of driverpacks or just the indexes to then download driverpacks on demand depending on your hardware. For me, the welcome screen just never appears, so I have to torrent download the drivers folder and then just place it in the appropriate location (usually, the same place as where the executables are)

Also, as someone else pointed out, Legacy Update is a great resource to update your Windows XP install with all security patches and allow you to install POSReady extended updates. If you use a custom ISO like Integral Edition, updating becomes minimal as all the updates are included upon setup.

people overreact when they say "Windows XP will give you viruses as soon as you connect it to the internet" and i've had windows xp on the internet for about a year and a quarter of a year and no viruses. many people have connected it to the internet and no viruses.

Damn I didn't know that Snappy Driver Installer runs on XP, I'll keep that in mind.

I need to echo what other people have said about Snappy. SDI Origins is recommended these days because it seems like it's more up to date.
But also because there's talk of the developers of SDI not Origins putting malware in the program.
From what info I can find it doesn't seem super likely but I feel like I have to mention it.

I'm getting a blue screen telling me that my BIOS needs to have ACPI disabled although I can't find how to do this in the BIOS itself on a Dell Optiplex 7050. Any ideas?

Do be warned that many newer PCs (2010 or newer) may exhibit complications when trying to install or use Windows XP.
Many machines that originally came with Windows 8 or newer are incompatible with the legacy IBM boot procedure and cannot boot Windows XP or its install media at all. You may need to enable the Compatibility Support Module (CSM) in your firmware, but chances are the setting won't even be there at all in a machine made after 2018, so using a virtual machine will be your only option.
If you are installing Windows XP on a modern machine, you will be unlikely to find applicable driver software for display and audio adapters. While Windows XP will boot and run some very basic games such as Pinball, the system will not be able to play sounds, and you will not be able to run any games that require 3D accelleration, and many games that provide software rendered and unaccellerated graphics modes will exhibit poor performance.
You will likely find it difficult to find chipset drivers for machines made after 2013, which would provide power management methods to the OS had they been available. Running the system without chipset drivers will prevent you putting the system to sleep (or sometimes even being able to shut down) and will prevent the system from properly monitoring its own thermal status, putting the hardware at risk of overheating.

Perhaps my device is too old, but there's no option to install from USB. Device is a Gateway 7330GZ, which already had Windows but I wanted to do a clean install. Pretty sure the laptop is from 2005

You're leaving a *lot* of performance on the table by not using AHCI.

To make AHCI work, all you have to do is load the driver.
