The fact that the Hunger for Humans comes from the desire to become Human again makes me think of Ogre from Before The Fall. Who at every opportunity would kill people WITHOUT eating them. Which makes me believe he was one of the few people who didn't want to become Human again. Like he genuinely enjoyed being a Titan and having this power to kill people. Maybe he was a Serial Killer when he was Human, a person who actually deserved being sent to Paradise.

The most chilling thing I've heard in an anime in a long time was learning that titans did not eat humans to survive/because they're hungry, because the idea of the shifters didn't come until much later.
The thought that titans were just monstrous, murderous creatures driven to devour humans for no reason is prime nightmare fuel.

Actually I'm not sure this is correct. Another theory I heard was that when Ymir was killed King Fitz ordered her daughters to cannibalize her corpse. While this did allow them to gain the power of a titan, the profane act cursed all future titans with an uncontrollable cannibalistic urge to eat humans.

I suppose either theory could be true, but personally I'm more partial to the cannibalism theory, than it just them subconsciously hoping they'll eat a shifter.
