What's this tram's secret safety surprise?

#shorts If you stand in front of an oncoming tram, you'd expect severe injuries at least. But this modified tram has the beginnings of a pedestrian safety system. Whether it would work at any significant speed is more questionable.

Why not use powerful long distance sensors that can detect an object or person of a certain size in the tram’s path before it gets too close? The tram could then gradually stop to avoid a collision, and a larger airbag could deploy in front of the tram in time, without even touching the obstacle.

This is a good start but I see a lot better solutions than this. 1. Have a cow pusher shape where it is a v shaped inflatable bag to push them to the side with a cushon effect, first absorbing them and then they roll out to the sides. Or, 2. the better option, to have an inflatable basket that is very large that holds them and has the inflatable have a back board as well to absorb their momentum. This way the inflatable would provide a large airbed of sorts with borders, to hold them instead of just pushing and rolling them on the ground.

The biggest risk to pedestrians is the mobile phone, I`ve seen people step into the road totally oblivious to their surroundings, because their focused on their phone.
